I have regretfully decided to try and sell my 69 Electra 2 door Limited. This car needs a lot of work. But some things have been done over the last 8 years i've owned it. Here's what's been replaced : shocks and springs at all 4 wheels. Water pump timing chain and gear tires disc brake pads ( yes, it has the 4 piston calipers) Battery parking brake cables. Dual exhaust Here's what's been rebuilt in that same time period: Radiator recored front calipers rebuilt carburator rebuilt Here's what needs to be done: Drivers door should be replaced ( I have a rust free one from Desert dog auto parts that goes with the car) Bottom of both front fenders needs to be repaired Lower rear extension on drivers side needs to be replaced Seam over the wheel opening on the passengers side needs to be repaired Drivers side front floor pan needs a patch. Interior and paint, and a front windshield (Not broken, just pitted badly) Antenna should be replaced. Dash board surround should be replaced ( I have an uncut one that goes with the car) Exhaust manifolds must be replaced ( yes, I have an excellent pair that goes too) Bumpers need to be rechromed Here's the list of factory options: Front cornering lights 4 piston caliper disc brakes dual exhaust Posi rear ( Sorry, I don't know the ratio, but it is a 10 bolt rear) Power windows, door locks, trunk release Tilt wheel with Cruise control Auto temp A/C Mirror map light split bench seat, six way power both sides. AM/FM stereo radio There may be more options but these are the major ones. Here's what doesn't work: Clock Auto Temp AC, only blows heat via the defroster. Speakers ( rear window leaked on them) Make no mistake, this car needs either total restoration or can be dressed up for a daily driver. It could also be a parts car although I haven't the heart to take it apart. It has just about 130K on it. The original 430 runs excellent when it is used every day, but it does run too warm (200-215 degrees on a 180 thermostat) after 30 minutes at highway speeds. Running the heater will keep it at this temperature for at least 2 hours (the passenger side exhaust manifold was rotted when exhaust was done and the pipe was welded to the manifold, I believe it is partially blocked and causing this). I have had it off the road for two years now and a brake line has burst. This was supposedly a Colorado car, which I really love, but I just have too many projects. I'm asking $1,000 for the car as is. I also have a set of the 69 factory road wheels for the disc brakes. I will let these go with the car for an additional $300. Otherwise I'll just keep these for whatever future project comes along. There are some other parts that may go at the same time, if the purchaser is interested we can talk about them separately. See the pics. I have posted as honest a description as possible. I would rather see it repaired and driven but what would be, would be. I can be reached at JLD1972@empireone.net. I have no transportation available, and the car is not suitable for driving away. Thanks for the read John D BCA 3757 ROA 10184

John, if "Bad Boattail" bought mine i'd buy yours. For some reason buying a car completely finished isn't my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong the car I have is awesome but when peole ask me what I did to it, all I can say is I put some tires on it and put gas in it. Since I do all my own work I would prefer a challange. I do have one big question and this would sway me away from it. Hows the underside of the car? frame floorboards and trunk? Mine is ready to drive anywhere. $4,800.
I bought a new Compressor for it but just never put it on. The original R-12 is still in it. The only reason I haven't taken it apart to fix it is I'm looking for the original Green sticker that goes on the compressor. I want to keep the underside of the hood all original looking.
Electra Hi I think that car would be far more valuble for parts. You have many I would be interested in. If my wife wouldnt kill me that beast would be in my driveway. Tom
if you were closer i'd seriously consider it, even though i have no room to put it....it sounds like you are set on selling it whole, but i would buy the brake set-up if you change your mind...
Hi Jarrod. Your car is very nice. I love the big buicks. As to my car, the frame is solid, but the drivers side front floorboard is shot. The corners of the trunk ( by the wheel wells ) are also holy. For my purposes, I was just going to weld in flatstock sheet metal and use the car as a daily driver. Tom and Jdustu: I can't part this car out because of two reasons. Mainly time. The town is on my back. More importantly, I can't break it up from a whole car. It has so much going for it, and it runs and drives, and is loaded, I just can't bring myself to destroy it. But it is priced low enough for someone to make real money on it if they wanted to give it a shot. I just don't have the heart. Thanks for your responses though.. JD
