It looks like the grill on my 69 is 1/2" low and about the same back too far, hood closes and looks like I forgot some parts.

The body shop painted these separate from the car; I bought the car without the grill. Are the 69 parts different from the 68? Because I may have the 68 parts painted by mistake.

Going to need more pictures of the center mounting studs and also the side shields. I know the 68's have a small lip with 2 holes in them to bolt the "cups" to which are part of the 69 grill, so I'm not sure the 69 side close outs will have the lip or holes.

I will look at my 68 and 9 and take some pictures. I know 69 filler cup ends are made as part of the grill on a 68 and they screw on. I think my 68/9 are slightly low like yours, thinks Bill.

Ted here are some pictures of my 69 and 68

The 69 is a low mile original car, never been painted, but is was an old race car and has had the front end off a few times. I have put it back together and did a initial line up of the fenders, hood grill and bumper. I need to put the headlight bezels on and try to do a better line up of all the front end parts. The center support bumper was holding the hood up and I removed it. The drivers side of the hood is still up slightly, you can see in pictures. I had to slightly shim the center top of the grill out, to make it match the ends. One problem with 68/9 chrome grill bars are that they get leaned against over the years and bent. You can see the pass side of the 69 is slightly bowed.

The 68 is a higher mile GS that has been painted and front end removed. The hood is slightly up on the drives side. I am planning on removing the grill and bumper and paint the grill to make it correct for GS, and try to line up better. You can see the bumper is not centered to the grill.

I know both metal grill holder pieces on the 68 and 69 are correct years. I have not tried to look at the parts book to see if they are the same.

    Hope this helps, thanks Bill.

Beleive that both the 68 & 69 metal grille holder panels are the same except the 68 have two holes in them for a filler piece on the lower edge.

my guess would be you have the metal grill supports on the wrong sides. they are marked with a "R" & "L"

Thanks guys, I have not looked at it again...I was looking at my 68 when
assembling. It seemed like a straight forward assembly! I need to install
the center support - another part I bought separately :). This baby has not
had a front on it for years. 350/3 speed manual. I can't remember now where I got the core support.
