What info do I gotta supply you guys to tell me what the date code should be on the carb for my 1969 GS? Or is just not possible due to limited info available from Buick? Currently has a 1971 Stage 1 replacement carb.

(I'm away from th car now -- be a few days before I can post any info, but I figured I ought to ask now.)

Within a couple of months prior to the build date on your car's cowl tag would do nicely.

    Still Confused

Okay, the trim tag is a 09C date code -- third week of September.

But I am assuming that GM built 1969 cars in late 1968, just the way they do now.

My VIN ends in 101681. So is that third week of September in 1968 or in 1969?

I guess I'm asking: do I want a 1969 GS carb with a mid to late 1968 date code, or a carb with a mid to late 1969 date code?

So a July 1968 date code carburetor would be appropriate, eh?
Just want to know for sure before I do something dumb.

Yes, as long as they did not change the carb number for your application between the 68 and 69 model years. Somehow I was thinking that the model year begins in August. If that is correct I think a July 68 400 cid carb would have a different number than for the 69 model year. I am sure some others will pitch in on this issue.

the carb number needs to start with 7029, to indicate a 1969 model year carb.
