Update: The pinched wire in the shifter mechanism was the problem. I finally got the interior completely put back together (along with a deep cleaning of everything) and was able to take it for a quick spin to the nearest gas station. Everything works great inside now. I found that I have some running problems to address next...

Since I had the interior and dash apart so far, I did the following:

Replaced all fuses with the correct amp rating, per the factory manual (some multiple times)
Replaced radio with Bluetooth RetroSound Longbeach unit
Replaced radio bezel with 70-72 bezel and painted it to resemble the 68-69 one
Replaced kick panel speakers and rear shelf speakers with Morel co-ax (sounds awesome with no amp yet)
New super heavy duty 12-gauge speaker wires to each
Replaced the small aftermarket gauges with 2 5/8" AutoMeter Sport-Comp and individual pods (oil pressure, water temp, volts)
Moved the SunTach to the column where I can see it without looking down
Replaced most interior lights with LEDs, including all of the dash lights, gauge lights, ash tray, and glove box (which was tricky and required some customization). Only the light in the mirror is not LED now.
Replaced both flasher relays with the electronic type with ground wire
    New front courtesy light assemblies
    New rear courtesy light lenses
    Replaced headlight switch
    Replaced cigarette lighter
Replace driver side AC duct (plastic one)
Replaced all the HVAC duct hoses with vinyl aftermarket ones
Rebuilt factory clock with Quartz kit (and it works awesome)
    Replaced glove box liner
Replaced glove box lock and latch (lock was missing)
Cleaned and lubed the tracks on both front bucket seats (power drivers side works but will need a new transmission soon)
Treated all vinyl surfaced with Car Guys Super Cleaner and Plastic Restore (they came out like new!)
Shampooed carpet and added generic rubber floor mats
Installed padded seat inserts (to protect the nice seats and provide some moisture barrier between me and the seat surface)

I highly recommend that if you have to do work under your dash, remove the bench or bucket seats. It makes to sooooooooo much easier!

Thank you for all of the help and suggestions!
