I just found this car, what would be rough value? Things i know so far, never been apart, one re spray, very little rust, car will run and drive. nice interior, white, automatic, faded paint. going back tomorrow to look closer. owner was not home.He wants to sell.
Few more details needed -Does it run? -How many miles? -Original Motor (I assume since it has never been apart) -Check the vinyl top for rust underneath. Looks like a nice straight car from the few photos but something looks funky on the back edge of the quarter panel by the bumper. It is a 68/69 stepchild so it will not bring 70-72 prices.
Mike, I just got back from looking at the car. Jacked it up and looked underneath. frame looks good, there is old rust proof sprayed all over. Trunk pan has some rust thru, can put fingers thru. good eye on that corner, it was dented, i looked inside, he knocked it back out and mudded it. The car is turn key driver. he says 45,000 original miles, comes with all original paperwork including window sticker, original owner. There has been some body work here and there but small areas. No tears on interior. Vinyl top seemed mostly smooth, with a questionable area. I can drive it home for $4000 Is that fair price? Thanks
This is just my opinion and I am not an expert but 4K seems fair for that car. Looks like all of the major original parts are there. I would like to hear others more experienced in recent purchases chime in on the price.
I think that’s a very fair price. I was thinking, based upon the initial photos, between 5 and 7... Patrick
You said you can drive it home for $4k. If that is true (running and driving), it seems like a very good deal for you.
4K is a very good price for it if it is truely 45K and not 145K There are little "telltales" that I use to distinguish between the two and most have to do with wear - - Drivers' inside door handle - is it loose with slop and play or tight ? - door lock .. does it POP up and down or kinda slide its way - Turn signal lever .. nice crisp click up and down ? - Dash - frequently used touch items shouldn't look worn (headlite switch, wiper switch etc..) - brake/gas pedals not excessively worn There are others, but you get the gist .. a 145K car has a lot more wear on the constantly used items. Be aware - there is no reproductions for most of the chromed pot metal bright work (hood scoops, mirror(s), trunk trim, emblems ..) so if they are not excellent, finding really nice replacements will be a hunt with a fat wallet.
4K is fair especially if 45k , More likely it is 145K. Its a good project if you can weld and grind and paint. If you are paying for all the work, then not so much . If you are thinking buy and flip move on the 68 69 market is lower than you expect. The trunk will need fixed and the source of the water probably the window channel will need repaired. As Alan mentioned above If any pot metal needs replaced expect a big plating bill or pay to buy the hens teeth from some one. Good luck from another member of the Stepchild Nation .
$4000 seems good to me for one in that condition, regardless of the mileage. The dent above the bumper-- may have been caused by improper use of the bumper jack at some point in its life?
