We have reproduced the correct chrome console door top insert. The back side of the door has two plastic studs - these are to mount the chrome insert to the existing plastic door. These plastic studs line up with the holes that are in the door and need to be melted to hold tightly against the door. This is the way GM installed it. We recommend a soldering iron to melt the post down. Woodgrain not included. Please see our new woodgrain insert available for the console. Fits 1970 1971 1972 Buick Skylark / GS models. Price: $49.00
Some Day When I Save Enough Money I Want To Drive To Elburn Il And Meet The Man That Makes All Of The Parts. But I Can Only Dream Of Saving That Kind Of Money To Get There And See Him In All His Glory. I Hope To Purchase A Buick Soon If I Get The Raise At Walmart I Think I Can.
Shane - How much is the wood grain for the door? I bought a wood grain dash kit from you and was disapointed that it did not allow the light thru around the heat selector! Have you changed that yet? Thanks, Jim
The woodgrain we get for the dash is from REM. The wood grain for the console is our own and it is $29.00. Thanks
I recieved the new repo console door chrome today. It is just like original GM. There is a typo on Shanes Above post describing the product. And I thought I would let you all know that there are 8 mounting studs and 4 heavy duty alignment studs, Just like original, These 4 alignment studs help keep the part lined up and the top from being sheared off the door if hit from the side. And as stated above the 8 attachment studs were originally heated and pressed down for a tight fit. The plastic is of a high quality, very strong. As for the chrome, it is perfect. So nice you kind of hate to install the wood grain sticker. I can't see sending off an old top for a rechrome when the mounting studs will not be reuseable, they will probably break off. Mine did on removal, and I have been quoted $75.00 to $90.00 for an old top to be rechromed. Highty recomended Repo part. Well worth $49.00. You might want to get an extra if you plan on restoring more than one GS. GREAT JOB, AND THANKS AGAIN, Shane and THE PARTS PLACE.:TU:
I have also recieved mine and agree that it is an excellent piece. The Parts Place did a great job and for me it was needed in bad way. AWESOME PART! ! Great Job. I recommend anyone needing one to pick one up today. Mark
