So a friend of mine alerted me to the 1970 Coca Cola GS conspiracy... that whole video explanation of the GS is such a crock. My name is Ed (new to this site) and I am no GM executive but did create the Coca Cola GS that has popped up here and there on several sites. Its next current location will on the auction block at Mecum January 10th. In 1994, my wife wanted a toy car of her own. I found a clean 1970 Skylark, cream yellow, brown vinyl top and interior, 42K and one owner. She really wanted a red car, of course red being a more expensive color option back then. I found Coca Cola fleet truck red to be an inexpensive option and there started the creation. I had an NOS hood, air cleaner, intake, quadrajet, spoilers and hood tach in my pile of parts and went to work. A friend new to the vinyl graphics business at the time helped me create the emblems, I added the bottle opener to the front plate, painted in the Cragar center caps red and painted the spare tire cover red. Tah-Dah!! At no point did I advertise this as a specail edition car, but as a nice Skylark. The 69 GS Coke addition was a little insperation as well. And there you have it. Mystery solved. I can probably dig up a copy of the registration from ownership in my shoebox filing system.

I'm also the originator of the highly sought after 1971 Grand National X. Project snowballed from a set of Grand National wheels I had.

Ha, like the story and the Grand Nation X looks pretty sweet, Coke Cola machine in the back ground is a nice touch. Any picture of the other car during your process?

I dug one pick from my photo album. Day I brought it home. I have probably got something in progress in one of the few shoeboxes full of pics that I have.

Awesome idea but I'm more of a Crown Royal guy... but that purple colored bag they come in is a color more suitable to the Mopar guys (plum crazy/in violet)

It was 52 cars away from being on Motor Trend TV before they ended programming for Friday. Would love to have heard the commentary from the announcers and auctioneer. Someone dodged a bullet if it was advertised as "the GM executive" car, thinking it was the "real thing". For those of you that are old, like me, you'll get the reference to "its the real thing" from old Coca Cola ads. My wife still wants to know where my GM executive salary is

That was a day when two fools crossed paths. One was a fool for bidding $45k, the other was a fool for not accepting the $45k bid for a weird looking Skylark. So, just how much does this seller really think it's worth?
