For Sale is a 1970 BUICK GS Hood - (no pop up spring provision)

If you are looking for a bolt on, driver quality hood, it is not the hood for you.

If you are looking for a hood that has a couple issues, but fixable & restorable, this could be the hood for you.

If you are looking for a hood that you could use the GS scoop and section into another 71-72 skylark hood this is the hood for you.

I would think that it is better just to restore this one as I have in mind to do some day if it does not sell.

Sorry for the camera phone pics.

It was involved in some impact once upon a time that damaged the underside of the hood as well as the top sheet metal. Although it is not rusty on the exposed surfaces (with the exception of one pin-hole on the drivers side likely a result of prior body work associated with the damge repair), there is the usual crusty stuff in the hidden areas that could likely be dealt with once you got into working to restore the hood.

The one photo shows the overall condition of the top side of the hood after I sanded it down to factory primer or bare metal to remove any prior filler on that drivers side. I then applied a couple coats of sealer primer and have it stored since on its side in my garage.

These photos shows the front portion drivers side where the worst of the sheet metal damage is. This is all drivers side stuff as I said. The photo shows the front area where impact must have occurred and is also the location where the underside channel damage I describe below is also located.

Another photo shows the pin hole that was rusted; another relatively easy conventional repair.

The rest of the hood is great and is a true 1970 hood so it does not have the provision for the pop up spring unique to 1970.
I will try to describe the damage to the hood:
    1) (Drivers Side) The underside support channel that the hood hinge mounts to is pulled away from the hood a bit and would need to be straightened back to factory.
    2) (Drivers Side) As mentioned above, the point of impact at the front needs conventional body repair)
    3) The underside support channel at the front (directly under where the top damage is) is wrinkled and likely the best way to restore that would be to section that small piece from a donor 70-72 Skylark hood. I can get a photo of this for you if you are still interested in it.
    4) The top surface damage is superficial and easily dealt with via conventional auto body sheet metal work. Basically from the front damage (item #3 above) to the rust hole has some wavy / imperfections.

I want $350 for the hood plus the ride. If you want the scoop section, I will cut it out but still want $350.

    Cheers!

    Cheers!

I sent you a PM on this item, I'm interested in just the scoop section, and would need it shipped.
