Hi there. I am looking a good running original project car. don't mind the rust, but its got to be matching, any color but green, buckets with centre consol shift. I am flexible though. I have looked all over but nothing exactly what i want. Ebay is certainly not an option for me although i have an ebay store. most often the on ebay cars come with out a title or with cracked heads, blocks and you name it -- you usually wont know until you dig deeper and do a vin check. ( which costs 20.00 each time you do it. I even had fellows try to sell salvage cars which are an absolute no no up here in canada. No one will buy a salvage title car. Its like buying a car with out a title youjust never own it in the true sence of the word. you put in a few grand rebuilding it only to find out that it had been reported stolen at one time to piss off the person it was given to... I know these because my dad ownes a body shop and believe me we have seen anything and everything. If anyone knows of an honest mechanic that has one that needs to move out of his shop for what ever reason please let me know. I can give you guys some advice if you need it regarding your back. I am a chiropractor and I certainly understand the effort that you guys go through under a hood, or a car all day or the worst of all twisting under a dash. If youhave back pain let me know, i will try to help. in the mean time let me know of any good deals out there. I would prefer to buy from reputable members here n the board.
Welcome to the board! There are a number of us on here from Alberta and we will most likely get together in Calgary sometime over the summer. Do a search for "Calgary" under the bench and you will find some posts and pics from when we met in the fall. As for a car, I'll keep my ear to the ground for you. Any idea of a budget? Does it have to be a '70, or will a '71-72 work for you? There was a GS455 4 speed car for sale in Calgary about a year ago. Search the for sale forum here. It was rusty and around $20k. It has a lot of sentimental value... I would love to meet for sure. If there is a buick club that meets I would like to be involved somehow. Perhaps host it. I just have to be patient I guess. I came across a lot of 70 cars for reasonable prices, but am having problems with people not having title to them to bring into canada. I put up a red flag when someone tells me that they could not afford a $23.00 title fee + % of the purchase price for title. Some guys want to trade. Well I have a two tone rolex diamond watch i would gladly give up for the right car, I may even throw in cash as well. do you guys like Rolex???
Habib, maybe start a new thread under "cars wanted". You will get more action there. I will be sure to keep you in the loop if we plan another get together. It's a great time.
