I hope you’re all doing very well.. :)

I was hoping that the plating shop can do something about my original headlight bezel, but they just give up this morning lol ..

I’m looking for a decent 1970 skylark headlight bezel or “headlight housing” ..

Please let me know if anyone can help
    Thanks
    Anas.

If Dano can’t help u, I have a few really nice bezels or sets that would make excellent cores. Aih plating does great work on pot metal , pricey but they do excellent work . They didn’t buff the lines out and were nicer than nos IMO

Good to know Mark! When NOS bezels are $1k (ish) and if they can make them look just as good w/o washing out the detail, it doesn't matter if they're work is pricey. Neither of my NOS pairs are perfect anyway.

My feeling on this potmetal stuff is that we'd be better off stripping the chrome and polishing the base metal ourselves if the plater would play along. It's a lousy job and honestly they most shops can't charge enough and even of they could, probably couldn't hire the people to do it properly anyway.

I believe aih fills each pit by hand with silver soldier. Others buff and copper coat and buff again. It’s hard to find a plater that will do it correctly. I have had more than one nice set of cores ruined b4 finding them. Got their name from Kleiner. They have some nos bumpers they use for straightening guides too. If I remember the last set I had done was around $250-300+ per piece but they looked fantastic next to a freshly re-chromed bumper

That's why solid cores are good (they have to charge by the pit as @BrianTrick said) and as hard as they are to come by, we sure don't need them ruined - Be it bumpers or pot metal parts. Worth spending the extra $ & shipping out there or even hand delivery (IA is a haul for me, lol).

I just found out about a relatively local (York, PA) re-chroming shop I'd never known about. Going to check them out. Maybe send a test part.

So far, I've found 3 pairs of bezels, none of which I'd bother re-chroming. I know I have a stash of good cores upstairs - Was hoping one of the sets on the parts cars was better. I'll look but not sure I'll want to sell them. Can't remember how many I have.

I appreciate your effort Dano, what about if you get me the best pair that you have and if is it possible can you share the pictures?

I'll check my stash of cores today. I don't think you'd want to re-chrome any of the 3 pairs I looked at yesterday.

Oh yeah if it doesn’t need to be re-chrome that’s great

I doubt I have anything that wouldn't need re-chroming & if so I need a pair of temp ones for my car until it gets painted. I'll be back home later today & will check. If not, sounds like Mark (@2dtrak) might have something.

I have a decent set, it still would need to be re-chromed but believe it's a good core. I'm not sure what condition your looking for, these still have some pitting. Here are some pics, let me know if interested. I was collecting pieces to change my 71 to a 70 front end, but have decided to keep it 71.
