I'm looking to purchase a set of pistons for my Buick, but I don't know for sure if they will be the correct bore when they arrive. My LeSabre is original as far as the block and internal engine parts go. ANY help is appreciated!! :TU: These are the details from the piston set I'm looking to purchase: Manufacture Part #: TC1848.STD CKC Size: STD 455 CID (7.5L) Buick V8 Cyl, 4.313in./109.6mm (1970-1976) Big Block V8. Set of 8 Pistons. These are believed to be Cast Aluminum Comp. Ratio - 8.4:1 Comp. Height - 1.955 Piston Length - 3.33 Pin Diameter - 0.9997 Head Config. - 3 Standard Size
You have the cart before the horse. You need to have the block checked first and bored as necessary to clean the cylinder walls and make the holes concentric. After that is done and only then can you determine the size pistions you need . These are standard bore and may not fit if any boring is needed. So often a good rebuild requires boring. Also I would get forged pistons if I could and not cast like those you show.
i had a buddy in the 70's that put new pistons & rings in his stock 383 mopar untouched block.thats where i learned what piston slap isou: allmost sounded like a diesel,he wasnt happy & paid the price.shattered a few rings, scored cylinders...:bla:
MAN!!! I'm glad I asked ahead of time then! Last thing anyone needs is to create MORE problems by not asking questions. Thanks again!
