It's got the typical pile of small stuff that isn't correct, but a big block convertible that isn't a rot box...and in one of my favorite color combos....I'll take it!

I talked to Matt Harwood in Auburn a couple weeks ago about this car. I remember his wife posting the link to it on FB from their website. There were the typical bunch of guys ripping it to shreds in the comments. So Matt said that this car isn't one of their "bread and butter" cars they normally get to sell. So he's not really aware of the stuff that we may be on the details.

Like I said, 71 big block convertible that isn't a rot box AND it has the numbers engine and trans. This is a no brainer for me.

Seems reasonable enough for a numbers matching BB convertible if the paint/bodywork was done well. Biggest concern for me at 1st glance is the "By Buick" trunk emblem placement. Maybe it could be moved and the emblem would still cover the holes or the paint matched. Like said above, lots of little stuff to make it right that 99% of ppl wouldn't notice but if paint and bodywork is done, that's most of the battle & much of the cost. Even if the body needed to come back off the frame it can be done.

This car looks like the one purchased from a small So. Texas museum. I think out of Houston or Corpus Christi. IIRC, that car was said to be a legit numbers car by members who had inspected it.

If I hadn't been busy buying a '71 Trans Am that weekend, I was going to go down to that auction at the museum in Corpus Christi and would have likely bought the '71 Stage 1. If I had done so, that GS 455 convertible would be on its way down here so I could park them together like my Firebirds. But lately, I've been all talk and no action.

Those incorrectly placed emblems on the trunk lid just kill it for me!

Its not just the "By Buick" emblem that is not centered under the "GS". Both are in the wrong place so hole filling and painting would be necessary to fix it.

That appears to be a grille emblem.

You guys are right! That is a grille emblem! The "GS" is way too big for a trunk emblem.

I looked through the FB posts, it appears it was linked on June 6th. So, it had been available for 6-7 weeks before it sold in the last couple of days.
