We should start a beater class in bowling green.

I'd be happy just to have a designated parking area for non-show Buicks. Maybe where the GSX reunion cars were. I bet it'd be popular.

Last year, I just put mine in with the rest of the show cars, so it did get judged. Didn't expect anything, but was nice to have it (relatively) close to the action.

I'd be embarrassed to put my Stage 1 in the show. It's a 25 footer at best but also not a survior. I just think it'd be nice to have a place for all the non-show cars that are always scattered around the grounds and give people a reason to bring them & that it'd be pretty popular.

The more I play with this one the more I’m considering bringing it just to have it there. Would probably get more looks than my 72 Conv

Nobody should be embarrassed to bring their cars, no matter their condition. They are still alive. Maybe some more than others, but you get my point. When I drive mine around my little town while sitting on a furniture pad, I still look over the hood and see scoops. Puts a smile on my face every time.

We could even call it, “fast with less class”

Not as fast and not much class.

I wouldn't be embarrassed at all to bring it, but would be to put it in the show & unless there's a designated place to park such cars, probably won't bring it. Maybe I'm the only one that feels that way but maybe if there was such an area more would be inclined:).

The Pontiac club that I'm a member of (a chapter of Pontiac-Oakland Club International) has a category for this, Road Warriors. No judging of the cars(that I recall), just there for a good time. They organize a couple events during the convention, mainly cruises to tourist sites, out to lunch, etc. just for those in the Road Warrior class. And yes, they have their own parking area.

Very well said, and that's what it's all about!

    Stan bring that silver '71!

Many years, including 2023, I just bring my rusty but trusty '67 GS400 convertible. Last time I brought it (2019 I think) it was the only one there because everyone else left their '67 GS at home.

Come on guys, whatever car you have, bring it. I'd be far more embarrassed to say my car is at home in the garage because "it's not nice enough" than to have a beater on hand at the event. I've never heard anyone say, "I sure had less fun this year because I brought my imperfect car." Funny thing, the only time I've ever heard anyone crying about bringing a car to the event was someone that brought what they thought was a perfect car and they were disappointed that they didn't win 1st place in the show. So there's actually far less stress and lower expectations by bringing a driver or beater.

    BRING IT!

Reminds me of the best car t-shirt I've ever seen:

The fastest cars are at home in the garage.
The best drivers are standing at the fence.

agree 100% I won't show mine, don't want it shown, but it'd be nice to be seen..............

    BRING IT.

Last year I had my GSX in the event, paid the small fee ($20?) to have it in the show (I wanted to be parked by my friends and also get a dash plaque) but I put "do not judge" on my little card thingy.

You can leave your car closed up if you don't want people to look too closely.

Yeah, I guess that was a blanket response, and I understand what you’re saying. Maybe we could get together and have an unofficial area for these cars that doesn’t take away from the real show.

Dano, there should be two survivor classes, one Call true Survivor original drive train after all these cars weren’t meant to sit in your driveway a look at, They were meant to use aggressively. And the other original paint survivor. Oh I would definitely not kick your car out of my driveway it is an original drive train survivor.

I think I’m gonna try and bring my 71 this year. It’s a work in progress but I ain’t gettin any younger as they say. Gotta get my bucket seats back together first though. I don’t think that car has been to BG since ‘97 maybe as shameful as that sounds. I did drive my convertible a few of those years since the hard top was last there.
