anyone have a close up pic of this rocker stripe i'm getting ready for a platinum mist paint job and did not realize there was a stripe down there I think instead of red stipes around the larger blackstripe down the side I will go w/ white I don't care what it was originally I'm just doing what I want
As soon as I can get my camera charged I will post a few pics........been caught in the dreaded ice storm for about a week now....power just came on last night.
I was just rereading your post, and I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but you do realize these stripes are on the insets of the larger chrome rocker moldings that came on the GS's and some Skylarks, right? The stripes are not on the body itself. Check out the following link for more info and pictures. http://www.buickperformance.com/GSRockerPanels.htm
Lower black rocker stripe.... Stripe under door handle.... Where stripes have the "glitch" over the rear wheels..... expanded view...... For some reason you have to click on the first pic of the rocker molding but the rest are posted here. Except for the 2 black stripes on the chrome rocker trim that I recently covered with black pin stripe tape (almost exact match for the original black painted stripes I might ad) the red/black GSX stripes and the arctic white is the original paint complete with the original flaws. Notice the work under each door handle. Gotta love 1970s attention to detail...lol. I hope the pics help you and anyone else with their restoration. You could goto photobucket and look for 2006stang albums 1971 Buick GSX and look at these pics and other pics of original literature, interior shots, ect.
