This showed up on Hemmings yesterday: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/buick/gran_sport/2517074.html Column shift, bench seat car. VIN: 4G37V2G140313 Asking $59,995
Not a big Bench seat/col. shift fan & didn't scrutinize the pics too closely but that sure looks like a nice car.
Very, very nice driver. Wondering about the engine casting number, is that correct for a WS coded Stage 1?
Idk on the engine & no mention of whether or not matching #'s but agree - Super nice car on the surface. I'd just change a few minor things to make it look more correct/orig. & I'd rather see it w/an N-25 (tailpipes is something I'd change anyway) but would be proud to own/drive/show it.
I wonder how many of these bench seat cars were purchased back in the day because the guy wanted his honey to be sitting next to him.
@gsfred mentioned something about liking them back in the day for taking a hard turn & having her slide over.
My 73 Monte Carlo I had in high school had swivel bucket seats, they did create some much appreciated extra room when needed.
That is a really, really nice car. Its got a few little thing that need attention on it, but none of them should be show stoppers. I feel like the money has a little wiggle room in it for a 72, assuming its a numbers car. Regarding bench seat column shifter cars, my soon to be wife prefers them for exactly that reason, being able to snuggle up. I once had a Chevelle that a friend and I converted from bench to buckets/console. Its nice to know what all goes into doing that, but if I had it to do again, I wouldn't.
I agree with the desirability of bench seat cars when it comes to being able to have your sweetie close to you. However, a buckets & console GS will almost always sell for more than a bench/column shift car with all other things being equal.
