Nope never was anything under the hood when I pulled it out of literal HELLS JUNKYARD for the guy who abandoned it here 20 years ago : ( One of 12 so equipped or less supposedly and LOADED but totally clapped out Picture from back in the day when our now 25 year old son and I found it at the very back of the junkyard right on the verge of sliding down into a gully. Was the worst project ever moving totally loaded down “storage junk cars” 30 deep with a freakin ratchet come along because it was too slick and steep even for his 4 wheel drive, THEN we had to transfer it without the rear end in it from an unstreetable roll back to the other. Literally took WEEKS(felt like we were moving materials back in the day for pyramids!) with that damn ratchet come along! Still makes me hurt to remember!
I love to see pics like those, thank you for sharing. It certainly makes a good yard ornament and conversation piece. If the column is still there, are you interested in selling it?
Appreciate it but I am too old and busted up and the stickers are fierce back there (over 8ft tall too) so it will just sit there till Jesus comes. Even the freakin vin plate rusted into nothingness
Not sure on the Centurion, but you could in fact order the Stage 1 engine in a Riviera.. I had a buddy in high school that had a 73 Riv, with that option. I was out with him looking thu the back row of car lots and dealer used stuff, one winter day, when we were Juniors in high school. Driving his dad's Chevette as I recall, when we came upon it.. The Stage 1 emblem in the grill was the first thing I noticed. Sitting in the back row of the Iten Chevrolet used car lot.. took $1500 bucks to buy it.. Interestingly, it was not a GS, but did have the big bucket seats and console with the unique one sided shifter, and it also had a 3.42 posi 9 3/8 rear in it. I would agree that this one has had the Stage 1 emblem added to someone, although that car did have a unique Stage 1 emblem in the grill.
I made the mistake of selling my original of23 years ago for 75 bucks on eBay before I knew the numbers, I had to pay 700 for a 1112016 5g3 service replacement last year, fortunately I have the original 7043242 carb
Yes it is odd that Buick would sell you a Stage 1 equipped Riviera without the Gran Sport option but they did. Fritz, do you still have the Black 1973 Gran Sport Stage 1 Suncoupe in the pics you posted?
Have a posi rear & white “parts car”(running when hauled here) also abandoned here 20 years ago. Lots of parts don’t remember what all.
Records show that 32 Stage 1 big block,A/C, Sun Coupes were made in 1973; 9 were four speed cars(see chart breakdown), the rest were automatics. This one is Regal Black with white power buckets,Rallye steering wheel (twisted like a pretzel due to being hidden under car at removal time by previous admirer) manual SunCoupe roof,cruise,A/C,L-75 Stage 1,power windows & locks, electric rear defroster, tilt wheel, rally gauges, clock, standard posi for L-75,sport mirrors, probably other stuff I forgot, rare, rare, rare. Roached? Definitely!
Had a W code 1973 Centurion coupe purchased from ... the Stage 1 guy in Idaho and delivered by his girlfriend or wife. I had some fun with it, was an interesting car - went to an older fellow in Texas.
