I need some advice. I have a customer of mine who wants to trade out my labor for a car she has had sitting next to her house under a carport for 20 plus years. It is white with black interior, everything is intact except a/c which is in trunk. Has basic rust and a few dents. 350 2-barrell with a 3 speed. Interior is in excellent condition and she said it ran when parked. Just did not mess with it after the a/c went out. I don't see these cars for sale with much value. Is it worth it to make a trade? It would need tires, brakes gone through, fuel system gone through, battery, fluids etc.. just to get it running again and I assume with used tires I would be into it for near $500 plus whatever labor i have to do in trade. Thanks for any advice and what it may be worth as it sits. Brandon in KC

check collector values in Nada consumer guides but alot depends on condition, options , etc. Could be worth something. the 3 speed sounds like a rare option, never seen one in that body style, on the floor even cooler, any possibility its a gsx? that year it was a cosmetic option, but that might explain the standard trans. Sport steering wheel? If its a 2 door with a solid frame and body and the engine turns I would give it a hard look. Running driving might bring 2000 and up to the right person. Ive seen them listed for 8-10k in real nice shape but dont have any idea if they sell. definately worth a parts car for the right price. post some photos if you can.

Not really worth too much. I wouldn't give the owner much beyond scrap value for it. If your looking to flip it, its going to be a slim profit margin if any when your done.

When you say "3 speed" do you mean a manual 3 speed or an auto?

Without seeing it, the interior sounds like it might be worth the investment, especially if it's buckets. 74' might have a disc brake set up, valuable to 1st Camaro and 3rd gen Nova guys, 8.5 rear diff as well.

If it would only take $500 to get it roadworthy, it might be worth up to $1000 or more as she sits. Can ya post up some pics?

I would grab it just because how many times will that type of opportunity arise?

Let me tell you about the free 1960 Impala I passed on because it needed a little work........still kicking myself

Thanks guys. I will take some pictures while i'm there next week. I don't believe it's a GSX. I did not see any badges other than Buick or Apollo. The shifter is on the column and I think it it had a D21 combo. I'll look at the front brakes and see if it is a disc setup. I will update this thread as soon as I get pics uploaded.

lot's of rust down on the rockers and lower fender is not a good sign.
check the floor, trunk pan and frame closely

Snow belt car, no collector value, and all parts worn out... worth scrap value at best.

I guess ill be the odd man out and say it doesnt look that bad to me. It certainly isnt great, but they arent very common. At least around my area. Cant say ive really ever seen any that I remember. So for that reason alone, I think its worth saving. If it were closer to me id like to check it out.
