I was in a local, new salvage yard today and came across a white 1974 Apollo with orange/red side stripes with GSX stickers on the front and side. Is this worth anything?

The buckets, engine, and trany are gone. Just wondering what the production numbers are and what engine it came with.

Thanks in advance for your reply :)

In 74 ,the GSX was order code Y1 or UPC code Y 41.Cost was $103.00 or employee cost of $78.30 to have this added to an Apollo car.I have seen a couple and have a pic of a Red one,but don't know exactly the production amount was.

    yup

I will get some pictures. I suppose for a $100 all you got was a set of stripes. The car has 4-wheel drum brakes. It had steel wheels and chrome smoothies on the front. It would make a great Buick race car. Does anybody know where the build sheet would of been stuffed at?

All depended on the factory in which it was made..back seat, under gas tank, under the front bench seat, Not exactly sure on those newer ones.. maybe someone else will chime in.. Randy

That pic must be at least 15 years old. I don't even know why I have it. Think it was from the Bowling Green GSCA Nats in the 90's.

    gsx

What a cherry car (sic). And at a great price. :)

    Looked production numbers up.

    28,286 notch backs with 1562 GSX's made. :eek2:

    They came with a L-6, or 2bl or 4bl buick 350.

I wonder if the vin number will tell me where the build sheet is. I know different build plants put them in different locations.

    Joe,
check under the rear seat, under the front seats, atop the gas tank, and maybe behind the a pillar inside trim.

    buildsheets

Finding a build sheet in an X-body car is next to impossible. I've scoured probably over a hundred or so of these cars & found one (yes, one) complete buildsheet in a '73 Pontiac Ventura. It was behind the upper rear seat cushion. (Car was a coupe, not hatchback). It was built in VanNuys, CA.

I believe the seventh VIN character denotes the assembly plant.
If the 7th char is an "L", it's a VanNuys car. VanNuys also put buildsheets over the gas tanks on the F-body cars -- not sure about the X-body cars. I'm thinking the Apollos may be Canadian-built only though? Can someone confirm this?

I found an early 70's nova with the corner of the buildsheet stuck between two wires very close to the fusebox area also...forgot to mention that.

I've collected literally hundreds & hundreds of GM buildsheets over the years -- it's always a blast finding them!

    pictures

Sorry about not getting the pictures posted. I've been a little busy. I'll get them soon. The wrecking yard the car is in has wierd hours and its hard to catch the guys there.

Then i have to figure out how to post the pictures. thanks for your patience. :)
