A couple things to note and a question. Pics a over a year old. No big deal but do you really need a hood scoop that big. Also, is there a gran sport package on Regals in 74 because the grille looks like a GS badge??? http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/car/645621855.html
In 74 the GS package went to the Apollo, not the Regal or Centry. That's probably a 73 grill. In my opinion, I think the car looks horrible. -mark
Nope...there is indeed a 74 Century Gran Sport as well as a 1975 Century Gran Sport. Apollo's were designated with GSX decals though, and came with a manual transmission option as well, but it was a 3 speed.GS was not available on the Regal line, but a 455 was available..
That car is a Century, not a Regal. All Regals had the formal roofline, not the fastback style this car has. Dave
Looks like it couldbe alegit GS Century. Get him to keep the 22's and put a Stage 2 in there witha sp1 or maybe even a Stage3 or 4 and put that cool scoop to good use. I like it without the Donky wheels
Just FYI ... '73 - '75 Regals had the formal roof line and the Gran Sports of the same years had sport or "fast back" style called a Colonnade roof line (like the one pictured in the ad). The Century's also could be had in the std. Colonnade style or the formal roof line, I thought. I also thought the Regal was really an up-scale Century trim package essentially superceding the prior years up-scale "Custom" trim-level option. The VIN on this car may tell the whole story.
Only the Century line had the round turn signal lenses in the header panel in 73-74. They were round unlike the Regals, which were rectangular. The header panel on this car is correct for a 73-74 GS.75 GS's had rectangular lights like the Regals.
I beleive that the grille on this car in Craig's list is the correct for a 74 GS with round turn signal lenses in the header panel ... it looks identical to bladerunner's original low mileage 74 GS 455 (same color?) in a recent ad ... More Pics of a bonafide '74 GS: http://s172.photobucket.com/albums/w9/ylark/1974 GS/ The front bumpers and rear tail lights are very different between '73 & '74 GS's, though. This may just be a legit '74 GS on craigslist ... you should tell the Seller he can keep the 22 inch wheels and you'll just take a credit.
yeah, my bad typing strikes again...I meant the 73-74 were the same and 75 was different...I guess I should get some sleep. lol I edited it...
I kind of like it minus the wheels and the hood:beers2: That is indeed a century and you can buy reproduction GS badging for these so who knows. A dead give away for a GS is the blacked out headlight Bezels. I can't tell from the picture, can anyone else? If it is a real GS you could find a new hood, and some Buick ralleye wheels and you would have a cool GS for a good price. Just a thought, I would like to see the interior. by the way I say my first GS Colonade clone on Ebay today, so they are out there. i just put the original wheels back on my 1974 GS, and posted some new pictures. this is what a 1974 GS (with 2 tone interior) should look like. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=152807
If I had that car I would be smokin a big sweet and drinking some forties with OE! I might even have trouble being a productive member of society because I would be struggling to keep my pants up most of the time rendering me one armed!! I might even hang with cronies and listen to hippity hop! Anyway that would be me driving that car. Maybe even rob a convenience store or 2!
