I doubt you would like mine. The original color scheme on my car, I don't really care for. If the vinyl top had matched the trim pieces for it, than it had a maroon (dark firethorn) vinyl top with matching interior. I think I will end up painting the car black, or I'll paint it white and put a vinyl top back onto it. The car is always outside, so I don't really want a vinyl top that will be exposed to the elements. I need to find a permanent solution for the rear quarter windows. The man who took the top off sealed them with some sort of stuff, but it stays tacky for a long time, and when it rains the windows "weeps" and leaves black streaks down the side of the paint. I would like to find some chrome pieces I could put over the rear windows.

    74 electra

Hello all I just purchased a 74 electra 2 door car that will be used for parts, it has the dual airbag option. I was wondering what the value of the complete airbag system would be, (steering column, dash, bags, wire harness ect.) This car is maroon inside and out. Let me know any information or where I could find someone interested in these or other things from this car. I was told that e-bay would be the best bet, just wanting opinions of those who know Buicks. Thank You for your time.

    Hi Terry,

I bought 1974 Electra air bags on Ebay about a year ago and paid almost 200$ for them (excluding the shipping which was another 120$ to Canada). I was the only bidder and I just needed the bumper impact detector for mine. For that price, I also got the complete steering column with the steering and driver's module as well as the passenger's module (different from 1975) with lower dash bracing and the dash sensor/recorder.
There were many more air bag related parts that were not included in the auction so this set wasn't interesting for someone that would like to add the option to a 1974 Buick.

If you decide to sell the complete set, don't forget to remove the entire lower dash parts including the padded lower dash and a/c ducts, the front seat belts and retractors. The headrests and headliner are also different so you might want to include them too.
I don't know where the "air cushion" light is located in 1974 Buicks but it would be a good idea to remove the part of the dash where it is as well. The driver's door also has a sticker related to air bags and the glove box door. If you decide to remove all these parts, I'd be interested in the driver's door sticker as mine is gone.
I'd like to know where the "AIR CUSHION" light is located on your car, you could take a picture of it or describe where it is. In 1975, all full size Buicks had the Air Cushion lens in their dashes but those without the option had no light in (see picture).

It looks like my sticker is gone from the door, the glove box has two related stickers for the airbags. I`ll have to hook up a battery to see where the AIR CUSHION light is. The black box is there located in the center of the front bumper. So it looks like everything is there to be taken off for a complete set up. Where would be a good place to list these things and what would be a good price. I`m located in central Indiana and I would make someone a great deal if they were to come and remove these things themselves. Terry.

I was showing a co-worker the color of a car I used to own when I came across this picture. Then, I realized, that was the actual car I owned in my driveway!!! What memories this brought back as I had to disband my collection of the 1976 Electra Limited (pictured) along with my 1972 Riviera GS (Crystal Metallic Blue p/c 21D) and a host of MGB-GT's. The gray one in the background is still with me but the rest have been gone since 2004 when my son was born. Thanks for posting this pic.
