Hello, I want to remove the air pump but I need to know if someone has the serpentine belt diagram after I remove it.
No pics. It's been awhile since I did it put if I recall right take it apart and there are plastic fins/plates you can take out. Chris
I pulled off the pully and it looks like I need to move the idler pully up about 45° and get a shorter belt, it would work.
I owned for some time, a ‘96 Roadmaster Estate Limited Wagon. I removed the smog pump, pulled (cut) the steel tubes that went to each exhaust manifold. Went to a commercial plumbing store, picked up two threaded plugs to screw onto the port on each exhaust manifold and picked up a shorter serpentine belt. No need to move or alter anything as I recall. At the time, local Radley Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile (RIP Olds and Pontiac) dealership reprogrammed the computer module to ignore the missing smog pump so no CEL on the dash. This was one of the few engines built at the time where the US gov’t and/or EPA granted the owner to legally disconnect the smog pump from an engine. Dealership would, for free, reprogram the computer module to ignore the disconnected smog pump. The only caveat was, you weren’t allowed to remove the smog pump or related components. Most people I talked to at the time yanked the junk from the engine anyway. Really cleaned up the engine bay and made other maintenance tasks a little easier. There’s a 9C1 Caprice, Impala, Roadmaster, B-body website I used to frequent a bit when I had my LT1 equipped grocery getter. See if I can dig that up for you. They should have the info you’re looking for. RFIII
The website address is… impalassforum.com Lots of good info and folks on that forum who own those early to mid ‘90s Impalas, Caprice, 9C1 Caprice, Buick Roadmaster sedans, as well as the Caprice wagons, Buick Roadmaster wagons and the very short run, Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser wagons. Good info there for your Opti-Spark and water pump issues as well.
