Do the gears get soft with age? I replace a bad gear with a used good gear and it stripped i about 2 miles.please see this thread http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=79845 Thanks, Dave
Check the governor bore and cover. Something is stopping the governor from turning, and the gear is getting stripped. That's the only thing I can think of at the moment.
i spun the governor in the bore with out the gear and it spun nice and smooth. the cover is in good condition. i talked with the trans shop that with we deal with at work he said to check that the bushing in the tailshaft housing was good. hopefully i find something.
