Here I go again. I tried to post this a few minutes ago & when I hit submit it disappeared. Not sure where it went.

I need to know what all is involved in switching an '87 GN tranny to use behind a carburated '70 455 engine. I bought a '70 Electra 455 engine with 86k miles & the original 400 tranny. I want to switch the tranny to a 200-4R.

I have an '87 GN 200-4R tranny with 100k+ miles located, thanks to one of our Buick buddies, but have not gotten it yet. It's been raced in the past but still runs fine.

Snow Bound mentioned that when he did his, he had to change some wiring & a pressure switch. Since I am a newby at this, I'm asking you guys for your thoughts, recommendations, past experiences, etc. in doing this.

The finished application is for my stock bodied Willys panel truck. When finished it should have a curb weight of 33-3500# & going down the road with 2 people & luggage about 37-3900#. I'm not sure of a rear ratio yet but figured at 70 mph with 27-29" rear tires, 2000 rpm's would probably be about right. Does this sound okay to you experienced guys or am I way off?

General usage will be cruising, occasional longer trips & possibly embaressing a Chevy or two along the way.

Will this GN tranny be okay with a stock rebuild or do I need to go above & beyond that? To what level? What wiring? What internals?

Thanks for any & all ideas & comments.

    Thom
