200-4r TV Cable mounting

I am gathering the bits I need to install a 200-4r in my 70 Skylark. I am looking at brackets for mounting the TV cable to the carb. My Quadrajet does not have a place for the cable to mount on the linkage, which I could fabricate, no a big deal. But ...... I started thinking (yeah .. thats usually trouble) that since my kick down cable for the TH350 is now attached to my fuel pedal linkage, could the TV cable be attached there also. It would definetly simplify things if possible. I could only find one referance of this when searching and there were no details given. My car is now in storage so I will check closer when poossible but hoping someone has done this and has some feedback.

On a slightly different note, The 200-4r I have (which was basically free) is a code HG, year 1985. From my research it does not appear to be a perfomance trans but I can't nail down what it may have come in. There is almost no referance to this code anywhere. I have attached a pic of the tag. If anyone has heard of this code I would appreciate any info. I plan on pulling the pan soon to check numbers on the valve body to see if that will help identify it, thanks again.

Do some searching here and remember pretty much nothing will kill that TH2004R faster than an improperly adjusted TV cable. Do some reading then do some more. A pressure gauge set off of EBAY will only run you about $40 bucks and will allow you to REALLY confirm that you have it set right.

Thanks for the replies. I know the importance of setting the TV pressure correctly and have done it several times, mostly on Fords but a few GM cars also. I have seen many times where it has gone wrong so I appreciate your words of caution. I do have the proper gauge and always check the pressure after setting the cable/rod, whatever it may be. I am just curious if someone has routed the TV cable through the firewall to the gas pedal and can't find a thread to see if this is even a possibility. Also checking if anyone has info on the HG code trans, thanks again for the replies!

I run my 455/2004r via TV cable through the firewall and connected to the gas pedal. I am very happy. Just a lot of trial and error getting it adjusted so the pressure comes up immediately when you depress the pedal. Use the pressure guage to verify, but also, before you bolt the pan up, verify that it touched the "plunger" and verify that at WOT it is fully depressed. Again, a bit of trial and error with some shims at the gas pedal, because the angle is wrong really.

On a side note, I had Ken @ EDP swap my 71 throttle arm with a arm with the TV cable provision as a just in case. But it ****s hard and I have two season on it already and fluid is nice and clean. so leaving it as is.
