I was wanting to put a 200-r4 in my skylark, but I heard that they are a little weak. I know that they can be built up. so I was wondering what the avarage cost of building up a 200-r4 to handle a 455 arround 350-400 hp
would cost me? I would rather have a manual trans. but really don't know what to look for, if I got a Muncie or Borg Warner Would I have to have an adapter? Or is there any desent manual trans that I might find in a junk yard
maby out of a Trans Am or Camero or somthing. Thank you in advance for any help

    200r4 Trans Built

    Hey James
Find a local shop that has knowledge about these trannys!!!
A proper job done will run $1200 you will love the .67 ratio in OD. :bglasses:
Make sure you get the right converter for your ride.
    Good Luck!!

That $1200 is about right. Just remember to add for a converter, driveshaft redo if you're not running a th350, TV cable and brackets up by carb, fluids, wiring for lockup switch if you're having a lockup trans. Probably another $500 for all that stuff. I'm in the middle of doing my car right now. Price was double for me with a built-to-the-hilt trans and killer converter.
