Phil It really *is* a 350...

    Hey guys,

I hope to finally ditch the old Crager 15" Street Stars and the 235/60 front and 265/50 rear combo for a set of 10-spoke 17" Camaro SS rims (planning on powdercoating them a dark graphite color) with 275/40/17's all around.

Has anyone used these wheels on their Skylark (or any A-body, for that matter) and did you have any issues?

I'm not running any front inner fender wells and unless there's a backspacing issue I imagine the 275's should fit without a problem since I'm running 265's right now and I know some folks have run 295/15's with the right backspacing.

Any input is invited and welcomed.

    Thanks!

    -Phil

Pro-Tour-GSX is running corvette ZR1's on this board. Not the same i know, but similar.

You should be able to fit the 17's in there technically speaking, but its not just a bolt on process.

I beleive you need 1.5" spacers.

I used to own a few thirdgen camaro/firebirds which have similar backspacing to our cars. To use 4th gen camaro wheels on a thirdgen, you needed 1.5" spacers. To use corvette wheels, you needed 2" spacers. Hope that helps.

I had figured on the spacers being a probability, as I was also considering 5x5" wheel patterns as well. Thanks for the info!!

17 -9 in the front 17-11 in the back you need to run spacers / adapters to fit the wheels I have an extra set if your intrested. [IMG]

    Hi Phil,
275s in the front can be done. I'm running 275/40/17 in the front on 9" wide rims and full wheel houses. 305/35/18 on 11" rims on the rear. I got a Percys Wheel Rite (kinda chinsy, but it worked) and just took my time and measured carefully.

    Hi MuscleHead,
The fronts are 5" BS. The rim is 9" but the overall width to the outer edge of each lip is 10" which equals zero offset.

The rears are 6.5" BS. The rim is 11" but the overall width to the outer edge of each lip is 12" which equals .5" positive offset.

My front suspension is not original equipment but I believe the wheel mounting face ends up very close to stock. Mark at SC&C will probably know what the difference is, if there is any difference.
The rear end is a 12 Bolt from a '70 Chevelle. I think the widths are the same between the same year Buick and Chevelles, but I'm no expert on Differential widths. I took a ton of measurements and averaged the numbers to the most conservitive, then sketched the rear wheel well. As I recall, the body was .125 off center from the differential.
Attached is my setup sketch for the rear.
