I see the electrical post where I can connect a wire to the side of my transmission to make the lockup functional. How do I go about doing that? Just run a wire to the battery? Seems like it would need a ground too, as well as an on/off switch. Anyone have advice on how to get this hooked up?

It will depend on what your transmission was built to do. Do you have a lockup torque converter?

This is how mine is setup. It was an ATI kit. http://www.jegs.com/i/TCI/890/376600/10002/-1?parentProductId=748599

It allows the torque converter to be locked up in 4th gear (other methods are available too) and based on engine vacuum.

I also have a brake switch that will unlock the converter when the brakes are applied, much like cruise control disengages if you hit the brakes. Otherwise, it could kill the engine and make it unsafe.

    That will get you started.

I do have a lockup torque convertor. I got this transaction from Lonoke at extreme automatics transmissions. I see this electronic prong on the side of it. I assumed it was wired to lockup already and only needed to be wired. I had no idea a kit was required to be installed in the pan.

Do a search here in the automatic transmission area. Lonnies trans are generally setup for 4th only lockup and you just need some way of applying 12V+ to the single prong. You can do that with a manual switch of your choosing, or through a vacuum switch or via a controller like the B&M lockup control.. The cruise control style brake switch gives you a normally closed connection to wire through that will interrupt the 12V signal when you apply the brakes and allow the converter to release. Don't go and buy some kit that has you tearing into the valve body to install their stuff..

Btw if you decide to set the TV plunger up using Lonnies directions the folks at harbor freight sell a cheap little 4in digital caliper you can easily use to accurately check the plunger travel.

I'm not saying your transmissions requires that kit. It may already have something like that in it. If you look at the instructions, it will clue you in to some questions you should ask the builder if you want to get the most out of it.
