Thanks for the encouragement, guys. To paraphrase Sean Connery, I'll never say never. Who knows, it might be in the works. The older I get, the more I lean toward manifolds. I must be turning into an old fart. We now return you to our regulary hi-jacked thread.
Brian: When I started at Oldsmobile Engineering in the 60's, the old farts were the guys in their 60's. A few years later, the old farts were in their 50's as the new hot shot managers needed to get a few of them out of the way to get promoted and in the way of everything today: "I want it all, NOW!" Now it seems, anyone over 40 is an old fart in Michigan in the auto industry at least. Welcome to the club. Don't know if you're over 40 yet, kinda doubt it, but working until you're 65 is a thing of the past unless you work for yourself. Put manifolds on your car and start out on the development trail like we all have done, and still are doing it seems. It's the going, not the getting there that's fun! :3gears: :3gears:
Black Gold....."the more I lean toward manifolds. I must be turning into an old fart" I used to bracket race with 11 second cars for years at the westhampton track in NY. Since I was 20 years old. Finally for me... I realized that I was just like all of the other cars out there And there was always someone with more money then me or someone faster then me, or someone crying about my left tail light bulb wasn't working when I won the last race against him. Or some kind of nonesense :ball: :af: --------------------------- I eventually came to realize WHY I went to the track in the first place, and that was to have fun. And the best way I have found to do that is by wringing some good performance out of a car with near stock limitations. Yes I went slower but so what??? Was I ever gonna make history, NO, but who cares?...I was enjoying myself alot more, and meeting some like minded people along the way. I never cared about the Bracket / Gamblers race purses and still don't. --------------------------- It all starts with the exhaust manifolds
Couldn't have said that better myself, Gonzo. Well done. I'm planning to take my Ramrod to DickMiller's race, and will probably do a little T n T on Friday night, but not enter it in either the Saturday night RUM-POP, RUM-POP local bracket race or the Oldspower competition the next day (also a bracket format). Sit in the shade, sink a few suds, socialize, and maybe even watch some racing like I used to. B/G, are you going to take your car there and run it in the race? Greatest Olds Power event there is! I think all cars with manifolds have to park on the opposite side of the track!  Don't tell them about my car......
Yeah, see, if I put the manifolds back on, I'm afraid they'll make me park with the show cars. That would be stupid. Sort of like going to a car show then entering it in the "Race Car" class. Sheesh! Who would do something that stupid!! Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Maybe some day. I'm in no hurry to do anything. Procrastination is one of my best qualities. :Brow: I don't plan to be at Norwalk this year. I won't race there until I get a tow rig, and that won't happen until I have a place to park it (read: real estate), and that won't happen until ...... you get the picture. I had hoped to come spectate, but another committment has popped up. Dave, you oughta put on a pair of slicks and win that bracket race -- show those young farts a thing or two!
Finally a great weather forecast for Saturday July 30th at Englishtown, NJ No tropical storms and no snow  82 degrees and Sunny chance of rain 0% :3gears:
not sure , but i heard a rumor about a certian car that was going to show but it broke an axle last week or so and its sidelined in pieces .. darn sticky firestone wide ovals ... ou:
nah, the bass boat is up and running again...........it will be at the MOPAR nats :Brow: or are you thinking about another car ??
and as usual ... i'm out , unless a miracle happens tonight . got the car together , on the ground and running last night . took it out for a ride , put gas in and i hear what sounds like a ROD KNOCK at idle . might be the new ram throwout bearing ? i have to swap out the starter later today and i'm going to do some inspecting in the bellhousing , but this is the original motor and i'm not going to chance windowing it . :spank:
John , Yes there could be a mystery car tommorrow at E-town, I do know the car is real and have seen it before, I just don't know if the guy will actually come to the race, he did have to make some last minute mods to fit into F.A.S.T class. I don't know this guy personally so its anybody's guess whether he will show. I have not heard back from him in a few days. If I counted on all the people who are say they will make it.............well I'm sure you know how that goes. ------------------------- Rod Knock at idle  ....Hopefully it will turn out to be something stupid and not engine failure related. I can't remember how many times I thought I heard that dreaded sound, and it turned out to be something much less horrible. Good Luck to you. :TU:
I figure right 'bout now you guys are having a blast, I heard the weather couldn't be any better.........please, please Gonzo, post the pics and results ASAP, how I miss NJ and Raceway Park
I just got in, and its late.....Tommorrow I will post more pics at http://forums.factorystockmusclecars.com/groupee Basically including the car show about 80 cars showed up! Not a bad turnout at all. Several cars were in the Muscle Bracket class as well, which I am not counting. So Raceway Park really took notice of this event and the stands had spectators! I think everyone had a good time, or hope they did.
