Well I guess we are not going to the Buick nationals now. Just got an email that states you have to be a Member to be part of the show. Even though no where on the App states that YOU MUST BE A MEMBER. it does ask for member Information, But all the shows I deal with always ask for club information.

I'll likely miss it this year, even though it's only a couple of miles from my house. I'm likely going to be at a conference in San Diego at that time. There's no drag racing linked to it anyhow, so not that big of a miss for me.

Well now I am wondering if the buick show in June is a BCA event.

It sucks that they will not allow other people to join. heck our car club which is one of the Largest Camaro clubs in the US when we have shows we allow anyone to join.

From everything I've heard, it's THE Buick show for the BCA. It's their National Meet.

So if PNWCC has a Meet its for PNWCC members ONLY??? I dont think so Steve.

How many shows do you know of are just for members only???? I have never heard of them Except maybe the vette people.

I guess my point is if they do open it up to NON members they might get more members & have a bigger event. I know of several guys here that were intrested in going that when they found out that its members only they felt just alittle put out because of it.

There are only two buick shows this year. are both buick shows for BCA members only?

by the sound of the email I got Heck I couldnt even go to check out the cars, or the swapmeet (which I happen to be looking for parts for my buick, which I know will NOT be at CHP in Feb) because I am not a member.

I guess if they would have put MEMBERS ONLY I wouldnt have been put out I would have been ok what ever. But they dont even have that.

I didn't realize that you had to be a member to get access to the meet. However, if the Rotary Club or some other club has a convention, do you think that non-members are welcome to attend? I don't think so. Only members are permitted. Why should this be any different?

Most clubs that are that Exclusive state MEMBERS only. This show doesnt state that.

    thats the differents.

I don't think you get it Tammy. PNWCC is Pacific NorthWest (Camaro Club) - the BCA is national club. This isn't a local event, it's a national event. They do this once a year, and this year it's in Bellevue. This was discussed in another thread a few months ago.

Now I'm not a member of the BCA, and I don't really like car shows to begin with, so I'm not too invested in it one way or the other. I would venture to guess that the show will be packed as long as the weather is decent.

I found the previous thread on this event:

Steve I understand that, Man No ones getting it. NO WHERE ON THE INFORMATION ON THE WEBSITE OR ON THE ENTRY FORM DOES IT STATE MEMBERS ONLY. I have seen it all over teh website as the BUICK Nationals. in all teh places I have looked it doesnt say you have to be a member. Only when I did email someone about it & I havent been on this forum for a while because I have been busy so I didnt see that thread, Did I find out that it was a members only event.

I have seen it on several other websites being advertise & in one of them it says Welcome all Buick owners.

I don't know what to tell you there. Maybe Chris (cjp69) has more information for you. Even if I weren't out of state at the time, I wouldn't have a car to enter.

Did you email the BCA directly? If so, what was their response?

I can't/won't speak for the National as that is being put on by the North Cascades chapter of the BCA, but the All Buick Open in June in Puyallup is put on by the Puget Sound Chapter of the BCA, my club. To attend our show at our "Open" you do not have to be a member of any car club. We accept anything Buick. We do offer a discount if you are a BCA member but there is no admission charge to attend. There is a charge if you want to display your vehicle and that is what is discounted. Our event is peer judged, not points judged. We really enjoy putting on this show for the last 13 years and do it for the attendees who just want to have a good time with their Buicks.

On the flip side, if you did join a local chapter and the BCA you wouldn't have to ask what Buick events were going on in the Northwest as they are all advertised well in advance in our newsletter. Our chapter tries to have at least 1 event per month Buick related in addition to our monthly meetings. I'd be happy to provide more info regarding the Open or the Puget Sound Chapter of the BCA, just ask.

Regarding the Buick National Meet, the North Cascade Chapter (host chapter) would love to welcome ALL Buicks. The problem comes down to the limitations imposed by the BCA's liability insurance carrier. The event coverage is invalidated if non-member cars are displayed. This is by no means unique to the Buick Club. When the Oldsmobile Club hosted its National Meet in the area two years ago, many of the Buick guys signed up as volunteers to help out. Guess what? The OCA's insurance would not permit non-members to work at the show.

So, I hope you can understand that it is no one's intention to be snobby or exclusive, but we must abide by the requirements of our insurance.

Having said that, I appreciate Ted's and Greg's comments regarding the value of membership.

I'd like to correct some further misinformation here. Non-members are entirely welcome to visit the show, view the cars, and attend the swap meet. The only limitation is the car display and the various banquets, meetings, judging, etc. I hope this helps.

I'm bringing this to the top again, for the benefit of those who missed the explanation about membership in the BCA for displaying a car at the National Meet.

Another event in the Pacific NW is the Good-Guys Northwest Nationals in Spokane WA, August 17-19, 2007. We always attend and there are normally 6-12 other Buicks there also.

    Larry,

Did you end up selling your GS? I remember it being for sale last year, but couldn't recall if you sold it or not?

    Thanks, Chris
