pull the governor and check the gear. my guess is the teeth are stripped off. most of the time it will still shift even though the cable isnt adjusted properly. if it doesnt shift even at an extremely high rpm then i would say its the governor.if it does shift at an extremely high rpm then check the cable adjustment :beers2:

If it shifts late, make the cable loser.
Try a "click or 2" at a time.

Not too loose, or the trans won't last long at all.

    Good luck,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. The TV cable on my setup up is a little unorthodox.
Besides that I don't want to try to tell anyone how to adjust there 200-4R
because the adjustment is so critical on them that I would hate to be responsible for helping someone fry their tranny. It would be money well spent to have a transmission shop with a pressure guage set it up for you.
Or at least follow the instructions of one of the vendors. Good Luck.

I recommend CK performance as a resource for tech information regarding the 200R4. Their manual is fantastic, and I have spoken to Chris personally. He was very helpful, and seemed glad to answer even my simplest questions. 5 stars for them in my book.

Their help and manual got me through my build successfully the first time.

edit: what 200R4 is it you have? the ones like the BRF code GN trans had a governor with light weights and a spring that would occasionally get thrown out of the assembly. ~MAYBE~ this could be your issue? I would check the governor 1st. unfortunately you have to drop the pan....

I pulled the gov and it is all intached...I was looking at my trans lines and noticed one is a bit pinched so I ordered some 3/8 braided spectra fuel line to replace the solid line, would a kink in the line reduce the trans fluid flow enough to stop it from up shifting? Sorry if question are a little ignorant for some reason transmissions have alway baffled me, all the springs, ball and such. I think a mad scientist designed these to cause me restless nights and lost productivity at work...

yes it may cause the pressures in the trans to go down which could cause the tranny to not shift i dont have my book in front of me right now so i cant look at the hydraulic circut but im sure it will affect it. ill look and get back to you. do you know if its the pressure or return line? randy :beers2:

After cleaning out my trans pan I found one of the Governor check balls in the trans pan..I bent over the little metal tab on the Governor weights just a touch so it wont happen again.. I will let you know what the out come is when I get it back together this week..
