got my packet for the thurs move in also. Not sure I can make that day, still up in the air at this point. Worst case, I'm there fri morning.
If I actually get to leave at 6am on Thursday I should arrive at opening time. Weather will be a huge factor for me.
Yep - I'll be there with the 68 H-O. It was very nice to be invited! I am driving down on Thursday; it seems the weather will be cooperative. Sunday will be fun - rain, will be driving the H-O in that, in the dark, 50 miles to winter storage. I should stress - I didn't want to juggle a truck and trailer, so I am driving the H-O to the convention center. The car IS insured for such trips - regardless of the time of year.
Donny I will be leaving Friday morning Therefore should be at convention centre by 4:00 pm Save a spot for my Buick GSX
Hello Donny Getting excited about going to MCACN, enough to shake off the cold, I hope . Thanks again for selecting me and the GTX. Just received new coil from Petronix, hope it solves my electrical problem. X starts, runs for awhile and then just cuts out. Gets gas and air ok. I'll still be there regardless. Can't make it until Fri early afternoon even though my ticket reads 2-8pm Thur. Should not be a problem, right ? It reads that you can arrive later just not earlier. Dumb ? maybe, but do we need to bring our own chairs? Poster looks great. Pete Papazian 1968 GTX
Pete, all your questions are answered bring chairs, come later, bring a cooler in the trunk make sure you have a 1/4 tank of gas or less
Look forward to seeing you guys this weekend!!!! Sounds like our friend in western New York has a little snow issue!!!
The PSMCDR display... ...was a big hit I think. Donny had video displays showing various years of Stanton racing which constantly attracted spectators. He also had lots of cool banners and signs made up for display. Rusty brought Goodyear tire displays for all around the area which was a nice touch. All the fliers about Pure Stock Racing were quickly used up. More than a few new folks said they wanted to bring a car next year and try it. We had 10 cars all lined up, 5 on each side of the center display and Donny's '66 Corvette was looking extra sharp out in the lobby along with some great display material. I didn't get any pictures of it but I bet someone did and hope they post it. All weekend long I let kids sit in my car so parents could take their pictures. Once the helmet went on they always smiled. When they were done with that my wife escorted them over to the starting line Christmas tree Donny had set up and she showed them how to test their reaction times. I don't know who had more fun with that, my wife or the kids! A big shout out of thanks to Donny for making the effort to provide items that made the PSMCDR display look very professional. Well done! :TU: Thomas
A big THANK YOU to Donny and everyone who participated in this awesome event. We had a great time and as Bob Jr said on the way home, "What a great way to retire the SC/Rambler." Bob & Bob Jr
Great job on the display, Donny, anybody who didn't make it missed an awesome show. Hearing the comments of "they actually race these?!?" was always entertaining.
It was great seeing your cars up close! What a cool event. I'll definitely try to make it the entire weekend next year.
Looks like everyone had a great time!!!! I'm really sorry we had to miss it. I want to thank Donny for the invite. Looks like he put in a lot of hard work into this event. I thought this would be a one time deal and was sooo looking forward to it as I missed the pure stock drags this year(truck broke 20 miles into my trip to the track). I guess just bad luck. Yes we had a snow issue here in western New York. Lots of snow!!! We were on the east side of it. Really wish things would have worked out differently weather wise. We had to decide weds. night as we were going to leave Thursday morning. Woke up to a complete white out. Decided the snow and traffic was simply just going to be a problem for travel. Hope others have pictures they can post. Ty
When we left the house Thurs morning in the snow in 4WD, we wondered if this was a good idea. Headed straight South to the Ohio turnpike and clear sailing all the way to Rosemont....except for those pesky 30 MPH headwinds. Boost gage on the truck's turbo was between 12 and 16 psi the whole way. My darling wife surprised me with beer and a bottle of Chardonay when we were in the staging lot waiting for our chance to unload. Didn't seem so long. Great display, thanks to Donny, lots of fun. Can't believe how well organized they had it to get 500+ cars in there (most in rigs), and also when it was time to leave. We were on the road in 3-4 hours after we got in line to load up. Driving rain so stopped in Indiana for the night after flying through one of those pain in the ass toll gates in the wrong lane. OOPS. Thanks for the opportunity to show the old girl one more time.
Thanks to Donny for all the hard work he put into it and to Rusty for the invite & "push" to get back to PSMCDR. Also very much appreciated the phone call from Donny last night to make sure I made it home ok. Here's a few pics I took.
