Sounds like the smartest way to do it. My bride and I just moved from Miami, but while there, along with my brother, we paid a company for a 75 minute "first time" scuba experience off the Keys. It turns out they hired this guy, who was very knowledgeable, and it was just him and the three of us. 5 min briefing and paperwork, 30 minute lesson in the water and off we went from shore. It was just him and there was no way he could keep track of us in those murky depths. I went down about 25-30 feet and loved it! Of note, I'm deathly afraid of water (even though I've jumped off 35' cliffs for Tough Mudder) but having an air tank on my back was the confidence I needed. Again, GREAT guy, but if you can envision a "Surfer Dude" who drives an old A-Team van with 4 non-matching tires held together with duct tape, grime and sheet metal screws....yea.. that's the guy.

I still swim at Martha's vineyard when I'm there. We were there when parts of the original Jaws was being filmed, cool times.
I even use to sail across Buzzards Bay to the Vineyard at 12-15 years old in an 11ft Catyak catamaran:eek: yet I survived :D

I was diving in a lake in Pa. about 35 feet down when a lightning storm came up. Lots of lightning. It was beautiful. The other guys wanted to surface and I was trying to get them to stay under. I felt safe under and was scared shitless when we surfaced. That was the fastest I ever got out of my dive gear. I told them I have never heard of a diver getting struck by lightning under but a few have at the surface.

Probably the sand sharks will be the only sharks in the 2 feet deep water.
I'll be in the forests with the snakes.

My sister lives on Mobile Bay. She was living there when Steven Seagal (sp?) was being filmed for "Under Siege".
To this day she won't swim in Mobile Bay... (She didn't swim in Mobile Bay before "Under Siege" either. So, maybe the movie had nothing to do with that...)

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Yes, it's the BEST place to scuba dive. I recommend doing a certification in your locale before going... It's awesome.
