So I’ve had a Buick rainier since I was 16 grew up working on classic Buick muscle. I really wanted to make a Buick version of the trailblazer ss. Before the latest engine rebuild it was a 11.5:1 compression small cam ls1. And would out run 5.0 mustangs from the stop lights. The engine was worn out from daily driving and daily abuse. So this time I went all out on the motor 238/245 duration 0.635/0.635” lift cam and a Holley hi ram. Head were ported by myself and flowed 310 @0.600 and 250 at 0.450 on the exhaust. It also has a 3400 stall and a 4.10 14 bolt rear diff in it. Trying to keep Buick performance alive
I love it! I had a Rainier that was a lot of fun, mine was blacked out, slightly lowered, hauled but with a 125 shot on the alum 5.3, nice AWD launches!
My first one was black the second on now crimson pearl metallic their great cars quiet and comfortable they just need more power
Im interested in the head porting you did, tell us more and or pics? I’m building a 6.0 for my 4x4 Yukon and was thinking about some mild home head porting. These long tube headers fit the Rainier as well, made for the TBSS. https://speed-engineering.com/collections/2006-2009-trailblazer-ss-exhaust/products/trailblazer-ss-1-7-8-longtube-headers-2006-09-6-0l-engines-m2 I find headers, cat delete, and a tube helps a lot even without engine mods. I just weld on V bands to make it easy to remove the exhaust . What are you using to tune it? I’m using blackbear auto cal, data log then email tune.
For the heads I did the bowl work on The intake cut the guide bosses down and on the exhaust I remove the guide then ground the boss away completely and flow really picked up. Also grinding on the plug boss really helps flow. It’s had headers on it for years some cheap pacesetters and a Gibson cat back with a cutout. And I tune it myself using HP tuners software, since I build engines and tune for a living it’s nice I don’t have to farm that park out
