Hi All, I had the good fortune to locate and buy a rear 73 Centurion GS axle complete for my hotrod 71 Electra project earlier this year on the forum. Unfortunately the ring and pinion are worn, and I'm getting quite a bit of whine at various speeds that makes it less than fun to use. Looking for a good set that will fit, preferred new old stock of such exists anywhere. Happy to pay a fair price.
Nothing here...Have not had any for 15 year now... Ohio is a DEMO DERBY capitol and we destroyed all those large cars to death.... Go WEST young man... maybe OK Or AZ might have some laying in a yard....
I have a 9 3/8 rear end from a 69 Riviera GS with 3.42 gears I may be selling. I want to open it up to confirm gear set and condition before I go listing it. If you're interested let me know.
Ahh yes right the whole confusing world of same size rears different internals bastard outcast orphan Rivera's blah blah blah lol
I don't need the whole rear, just a gear set this time. Are the ring and pinion indeed different too?
1966-1970 are REAL BUICK 9.3 / 9 3/8" rears 10 bolt cover 12 bolt guts. The 1971 -1976 era is really a OLDS 12 bolt under a buick...9.3 it has 12 bolt cover and 12 bolt ring. The early 1965-1970 9.3 gears will work also BUT the pinion spline is only 28 spline...BUT WILL fit I have a few yokes here to make it work. In 1971-1976 the 9.3 and ALL the full size cars were 30 spline pinion yokes 8.5 8.875 pontiac and 9.3 olds used all the same yoke.
Hi All, One more appeal to the group! Anyone with a set or two of known good 3.42 BOP 9 3/8" rear gears out of a 71-73 big car? I hate to scrap this awesome posi 9 3/8 axle I found but the gears are worn and loud on the road!
I have a 9 3/8" posi rear out of a 69 Riviera GS that I'm pretty sure has the 3.42 gears. I will be opening it up to verify and inspect condition. It's from an 88,000 mile car which was stripped in 1992 and stored in a shop since. It is now in my garage. I'm thinking of selling it.
