Kenny t has them with the system you're thinking of. I think they sound great but are not obnoxious. However, N25 style exhaust will make it louder. Got to the website, they have flow numbers for their mufflers. Those mufflers have a lot of potential.
I bought the 17229's to go with my M/T headers and TA performance 3" exhaust. I don't have but a couple hundred miles on my new motor, but I really like the aggressive sound so far.
Larry, You may want to look into Magnaflow 18" stainless polished 3" offset in and out. Keith from TT sells them as well.
Yup, those are the 2 I am looking at. http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynomax/289/17547/10002/-1 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mpe-12578 I am going to see if I can find some youtube videos of those mufflers.
Larry we have 2 cars that have nearly identical 3 exhaust and were very happy with them. Here are the photos of my dads car Kokomo that has exhaust from Torque Tech. We bought the Torque Tech system because we did not want the angle cut exhaust pipes. We want a person behind the car to see that the exhaust is 3. This X-pipe system has the 3.5 pipe from the header into the X and comoing out of the X the pipe is 3 the rest of the way out back. We used Magnaflow mufflers because we were happy with them on my black 72 sedan (used the exact same part # on both cars). They are relatively quiet at idle, very reasonable at cruising speed with no resonance at cruise speeds (probably because of the X-pipe) but at WOT they are plenty loud. Here is a link to a video of my black car from the last day I every drove it (back in 2008, yikes!) so you can hear it running a idle (its got a fairly stout street engine and probably makes nearly 600 hp since it ran 123 in the (100 in the 1/8)). Its 11:1, big flat tappet hyd cam (TA 608), 2-1/8 headers. http://youtu.be/vmcc96g1-sU Ill see my dad either today or tomorrow and if you are interested I can take a couple of videos of his Aqua Mist car which has a milder engine than mine (10:1, 233@.050 cam flat tappet hyd cam, 2 headers, 515 hp/571ft-lbs). It sounds very tame compared to the black car even though they have essentially the same exhaust. If the weather holds out I can take some video driving inside the car.
OK, spoke with Kieth today at TT. Ordered the system. Unfortunately, the tail pipes are on back order, about 4 weeks wait time. No choice but to wait. He also told me that the 12578 Magnaflow would be too long for the A Body. He recommended the 14264 Magnaflow, and he had a pretty good price also. Probably gonna order those as well from him. http://www.jegs.com/i/Magnaflow/642... +14264&CAPCID=3233009806&CA_6C15C=1819943809
http://www.advancepainttech.com/ Ceramic coating Powder coating Paint Talked for about 20 minutes to one of the owners the other day. (Eric) Seemed very knowledgeable and cool. He said they do a lot of work for summit racing including their ceramic coated headers. They also do around 300 sets of headers for private individuals. Quoted me $275.00 to blast and coat my used headers with a lifetime warranty. About a 1 week turnaround. Seemed very cool on the phone. Long business history. He said they have an 8 foot oven so anything up to that length. He said they get most of their individual work from attending swap meets.
www.nitroplate.com Lucky for us that their operation is only a few miles away and we don't have to pay shipping. We've had them do two complete exhausts and have been happy with the price and results.
I took a short video yesterday of the car sitting outside the garage but didntngomfor a drive because it was getting late. Hopefully I can get it uploaded so I can posted a link. I'll also see if I can figure out what part # magnaflow mufflers our cars have on them. They are pretty long but fit fine.
Thanks Gary, Kieth told me the 12578 mufflers I wanted were too long. He suggested the 14264 mufflers and they were 270.00/pr, and that is a good price, so I ordered them. http://www.jegs.com/i/Magnaflow/642/12578/10002/-1 http://www.jegs.com/i/Magnaflow/642... +14264&CAPCID=3233009806&CA_6C15C=1819943809 The 14264 (24") is 4" shorter than the 12578 (28")
