Hey everyone! Getting ready to pull the baby 300 out to get the heads freshend up.also to reseal the engine. I'd like to know some opinions on a cam with a little bit of lope at idle. I know selection is kinda limited. should I do lifters also? Or is there a kit I can buy?any tips along the way would be helpful also. Any info is appreciated. Thanks for all of the help.

Crower has a nice selection of cams for the 300. Your choice will depend on what rpm range you intend to drive it in..... do you know what the rear axle ratio is? It's likely a 3.08 so a milder cam will work better at the lower rpm's.
A Level 2 or Level 3 would be a decent street cam, emphasizing low-mid rpm power.
If you want a mean sounding idle, you will give up some lower rpm power to gain higher rpm power.
Definitely install new lifters on a new cam!

Do you already have dual exhaust?

Yes I have dual 3" with Flowmaster super 40s with a holley 4bbl. I just would like to get a good mid range cam.

Posted below is the page from Crower.
Best to give them a call and discuss. I'd say the 50230 'performance level 2' or 50231 'performance level 3' would be in the ballpark.

I take it you are starting with the lower compression 9:1 2 bbl engine but have a 4 bbl on it? The 300/355 4 bbl engine has higher 10.25:1 compression. A higher compression engine can use a bigger cam without getting doggy on the low end.
If you put the thick composition head gaskets on your engine, you will reduce compression unless you cut the heads a similar amount..... or find and use the original type thin metal gaskets.

Still have the 2 speed automatic? It does have the switch pitch higher stall converter, but most of your spirited driving will be in first gear. A 3 speed auto or manual trans would benefit more from a bigger cam since it'll be in higher rpms more often.
