Was the head gasket for my 70 GS350 a steel shim gasket? I went to my local parts store and they gave me a set of felpro blues, is this the right gasket. thanks again.
it should be a steel shim. .020 thk. Most new ones are .040 thk. So you will lose compresion. TA perf sells steel head gaskets, I beleive around $70, I forget the exact price. If you want to see if you can find it elsewhere cheaper, this is what is stamped on the head gasket FITZGERALD 0981-LS -nick
last time i checked TA sold felpro 350 head gaskets in addition to their steel or other higher end ones.
I went with Copper Gaskets! Yes, people say that you can't use them on the street, but my engine has been together for 10 years now with no problems, so.... You can order different thicknesses as well. Think about what you want to do to your compression. 1970 is higher comp. Do you want to lower it a little? If so, go FelPro. If not, use steel or copper. My .02
I went to the parts store and recieved felpro blues. I took them back and will order the steel shim gaskets. thanks for everyones help.
