just got a 73 apollo recently .350/2 . mtr runs pretty good . seems to have surprizing power . but the carb isnt grt. . thought i had a 4 barrel manifold on a 64 special i bought for a parts car a while back .well opened the hood and look what i found.any input on these manifolds .seems i red that they didnt flow much better than stock . but much lighter. looks to be well used but would it be worth cleaning and hunting down a carb ? ive got a 70 455 with a decent cab ,would that be to much for the low compression 73 350 ? is this manifold still being made or have changes been made . should i have it bead blasted or wire brush it ?i dont have much experience with 350 s, DSCF5257.JPG DSCF5250.JPG DSCF5258.JPG thnx bill

Nothing wrong with that manifold. Nothings been changed. You could probably run the 455 QJ but you may have to re-jet a bit leaner. Also you will probably have to tighten up the secondary wrapup spring a little. I'd run a 4-hole 1" spacer under the carb to get the air flowing faster. I'd bead blast or maybe just use some aluminum wheel cleaner on it. That usually cleans bare aluminum nicely. Was it painted? If so you'll have to blast or repaint. Block off 3 of the 4 holes from the exhaust in the heads going under the manifold. Plug the fourth hole but drill 1/4-3/8" hole in it depending on how cold it gets in your area. Run a 180* theromostat. Make sure you recurve the dist. per Larry's thread.

Decent manifold. You will want to check full throttle opens carb completely. As som accelerator cables can be too short. You can send carb to Quadrajet Power for a rebuild and tune for 350. I would mill heads and get some clean up in ports. Add a converter, should have some really strong pull .

The TA Stage 1 intake is a good intake, your probably thinking of the Poston intake that wasnt very good.
Clean 'er up, and you can run a Q-Jet or Holley Double pumper, dont even consider a vacuum secondary Holley if you go the Holley route.
