Actually, everyone has been hinting at incompatible lifters, but no one explained it:grin:

Even the pushrod cup is too large for 5/16 pushrod tips.maybe cam is OK and could just replace lifters. Pull lifters and see how flat the bottom is. If they are dished then you have a problem.

Bottom of lifters are flat as can be. But one of my mechanic friends pointed out to me how the cam was was pretty wore(starting to see uneven chrome wear). I'm guessing it's probably the original. So I figured I've already got it this far tore down, mine as well snag the TA 212 cam that everyone on here seems to speak pretty highly of. I'm still running the ol' 2 bbl Rochester though, so I probably should be looking to upgrade. The aluminum intake conversion kit from TA with the 600 cfm Edelbrock seems ideal, but a little pricey at the moment. I'm hoping I can at least get the TA 212 cam running decent for a couple months with the 2 bbl for now.

When you are ready for the 4 barrel swap then skip the TA intake and Edelbrock carb and go with a stock 4 barrel intake, and a rebuilt Buick 350 Q jet from Everyday Performance or Carmantx.... The TA intake is $400 and adds little to no power and the Edelbrock carbs suck.
