Just wanted to know if anyone could give me a real breif breakdown on the basic procces of swaping a 350 out to a 455. I got a lark with a near dead 350 in her and I was actualy considering going to a 350 (dare I say the word)chevy. I think I have all but scraped that idea. Just curious what I am about to get myself into.

First you need a 455 with the right oil pan. Then a fan shroud, motor mounts, frame pads, flexplate or flywheel, brackets should work, radiator probably won't, unless it's a 4 row. 7 blade fan. New belts and hoses. 455 distributor. BIG carb. New exhaust, at least the front half. Maybe a throttle cable. Starter and alternator may work. Then I think you are ready to go forward with the install. If you go Chevy your tranny won't bolt up and you will need at least half of the stuff mentioned above. Redoing you 350 is probably the easiest and least expensive. But as someone once told me "if you got to put money into a motor why not put it into a 455?" Had I listened I have more $$ and less good motors laying around. (I have a nice 350 just sitting in a corner)
