430 Head Selection

    DEADMANSCURVE my first word : truck

    i am under the impression that the 68-69 430 heads are more desirable from a flow/porting stand point and i'm going to look at a 68-69 225 with a 430 in it shortly . waiting for the call . casting numbers important ? i'm buying the engine and trans if it looks ok . that could be a "switch" trans possibly ? i wouldn't mind selling the heads to get back some $$ out of the deal . del

    Del - Check out Atlanta Buick's website for the 'big port' casting #'s.

    The big advantage of those 'big port' heads, would be in the unported condition. If you're going to do a full port & polish, the '70-'71 455 heads would also be a good choice. Excellent flowing and small comb. chamber cc's.:TU:

    Del - Looks like the 'big port' heads were only 67-68. If you scroll down on the Atl. Buick site, the 69 430 heads were behind the 70-71 heads in stock flow.

    i check'd out the "atlanta buick" site . thanks for that and all other info , i'm sure it will help . i'm hopin' for '67 for the trans . del
