i am looking at buying a 430 to replace my 350 i currently have in my 67 skylark. i have a few questions to make sure i can make the swap. was a 430 an option in the 67 skylark, or just the 400? will i have to change my motor mounts? will it bolt up to my TH350, or will i hve to go with a TH400? any inforatin is appreciated, need to make my desicion my this weekend!

    thanks,

The 430 was not an option in the Skylark or the GS in 1967. The 430 was used in the Riviera and the full size cars. They are basically the same engine with a larger bore and maybe a different cam. Heads were 57cc for both in '67.

The 400 and the 430 are physically the same on the outside. The 430 will fit in as good as the 400 fits. You will need new motor mounts and frame pads. T/A Performance sells a kit for around $140.00. I am not sure about the transmission. You may need a different fan shroud, I'm not sure about that either.

Have fun and good luck!

Cool! Another Buick in Chesapeake City! I have a 430 in my 66. You're welcome to take a look at it whenever you like. It's a tight fit but it'll go in.

    Excellent!

    Another local Buick guy...
We gotta try to get the local guys together one night to terrorize a few Chevy's. (of course it will be sometime next spring):ball:

I recommend going with the parts that SpeedyBuickGS has. The motor mounts alone (if you can find them) are quite expensive. The 400/430 is a tight fit and the correct mounts will get you started right.

If the car has air conditioning and power brakes, be careful when lowering the engine into place. The vacuum acuator located on the firewall is easy to break and the vacuum brake booster on the other side takes up a lot of room.

    Hope this helps.:beer

Right now my car is down for a bit, but would still like to get together with ya at some point. Let's get with Dave and make it happen soon.
