I really liked the two-for-one shots.

    The 1969 and 1970-1972.

I for one would like more details on the engine and dragster.

I'll have more info after this weekend on how it ran. It should run 8.40's @ 160 mph. Last year with an 8 1/2 to 1 motor, 113 cam, slightly ported heads, it ran 9.30 @ 141 mph. I figure that motor had about 370 horse. This new motor is 11 1/2 to 1, 107 cam, TA Stage one eliminator heads, SPX intake etc. It should make around 525+ hp. This car only weighs 1600# with me in it, so it doesn't take alot of power to go fast. What I'm hoping for is a consistant 8.90 car on the throttle stop @ 155mph. I'll list more info on motor next week. Thanks, Scott

    Very nice!
    Good luck with it.:beers2:

Go easy in the burnout.....guy around here would run it up against the rev limiter on the burnout and wondered why it didn't last.:Dou:

Well I got to run my digger Sat.nite along with my '66 special bracket car while I was racing. I got 2 passes before my air shifter stopped working. I've got 34 degrees timing and made one jet change. I shift at 6400. I still need some adjusting but I was pleased with an 8.44@ 156mph. I had a 1.200 60' on 12' slicks. I'll list some of the cars specs.

    -455 bored .030
-wiesco club pistons, 667 grams, 11.5 comp
-TA stage 1 eliminator heads, ported, intake flowed 316@600"
-SPX intake, 1050 dominator with thottle stop
    -msd with 7al
-short fill on block, arp studs
-107 club cam, ta pushrods , STOCK ROCKERS, mild hyd with .522 lift
    - powerglide, 1.82 low gear, 5200 rpm stall
    -FAB 9", 3.90 gears, 12X33 Goodyears
-212" wheelbase dragster, weighs 1600 pounds with me in it.
-oil pan was built by me, I run 7 qts
-headers were built by me, 2" primaries equal length
-I had to build a remote oil filter system because the filter hit the frame. 10an lines.
    - this car is kinda short and not much room in the motor compartment. There's about 3/8" between the electric water pump and firewall.

Like I said I still have some tuning to do. I was alittle disapointed with the mph, I thought it would run 160+. Its a pretty good ride anyway. 1/8 mile speed is 127mph. Scott

I love seeing 455's in other cars.

What are the specs on that 107 cam, it's not the old window rattler, is it?

I'm asking this to learn: How come the stall speed on the convertor is so high?

Are you right around 6k rpms at the finish line?

I may be wrong but I believe with a car that light you have to run a very loose converter. It will act like a much tighter converter would in a heavier car.

    Cam specs are
    running duration: in.294 ex.318
    valve lift: in..499 ex.501
    107 lobe center
    duration@ .050 in.244 ex266

I wanted a mild hyd cam that would be easy on valve train ( stock rockers) and pull hard on top end. There may be a better cam out there but I'm still in the process of dialing this car in. So far I think there's good potential in this combo. Scott

That 107 is a great cam but it's power range is narrow 4500-5700.

What are you going thru the traps at?

I'm thinking 3.70 or even 3.50 gears you'd go both quicker and faster.
Converter will still lock up nice since the car is so light.....

On JAGUICK, I'm only running 3.50 gears.......but it weighs twice as much.

you may be right. I shifted at 6400, and had a 6400 chip in the shift light but never saw it come on through the traps. Its kinda of a sensory overload getting out of a 11.60 car into the dragster and hard to pay attention to everything. I only got a couple of good passes but I may need alittle more cam or less gear. I'll have to do some figuring. Scott

I figure on a Buick motor (esp. bracket racing) it's better to run lower rpm than higher. We have the TORQUE.......

Did some figuring last nite and come to the conclusion I either need more cam or less gear. Maybe a 3.70. I have high growth tires ( about 105 circum.) but according to my figures, I think I'm running out on the end. The other question is, I think on an 8.90 throttle stop run I may be pretty close to a good combo. Changing gears would be the cheapest, easiest, but I'm not looking to run it flat out. It's a super comp car. I want 8.90 with aleast 155mph. Any suggestions? Scott

I think the 3.50 would be the way to go.....will give you all kinds of mph. Then you can fine tune with tires.
Even Chevy guys are coming around on this. You don't need 4.56 or 4.10 with a light, aerodynamic dragster. Alot of setups were practically all done at the eighth.
    I like my "highway" gears.

Have you messed around with hi-RPM retard to get more MPH?

You might be able to run 92 pump gas or a blend, if you aren't already.

Find some used roller rockers here on the board ($500) and find a cam with more intake duration and higher lift (if your pistons are already cut), and your MPH will come easy. Then you can throttle-stop/delay the heck out of it and blaze the competition at the top end.

I bet this'll be a thread that goes on and on and on. I love it!
