My 73 455 is having a little problem. Its been an issue for a while, but I thought I had it under control, but apparantly not. I had some glowing header tubes when I first fired my motor and I richened up the carb and broke in the motor. Well today I pulled off one of the headers to change the gasket and sure enough, the #5 cylinder is lean. the inside of the tube is white. I hope I haven't screwed up the rings or piston. I'll be checking the compression tomorow. The weird thing is, the same cylinder on the other side of the motor was glowing red during break in also. I didn't remove the header on that side, but with my luck its probabl just the same. Any ideas on what would cause one cylinder in a bank to go lean? the car runs pretty good and makes nice power. no pinging whatsoever. I have good accell wires, MSD 6al box, edelbrock performer intake and a edelbrock 750 performer carb. and a comp cams 268H cam, Stage 1 valves and springs and TA shorties what gives? :Dou:
