Hi, does anyone know what rear end might fit in a '59 buick Lesabre? Will a '59 chevy rear end fit? I'm trying to convert to an open driveline and do away with the closed driveshaft on the '59 buick. Thanks,

    Troy

I believe your '59 Buick has a torque tube driveline where the Chevy has an open type. The answer is no.

You would have to construct some sort of trailing arm system to convert your ride to an open type. The torque tube is part of the suspension. The lateral locator is a panhard bar that is parallel to the axle and the torque tube is attached to the trans. Those are the only locating parts for the rear. Old style (Nascar) Chevy truck trailing arms may be an option. You would have to modify the rear of the trans for a spicer type u-joint. Or use a later Turbo 400 trans with the open drive line.
