Car was restored 7 years ago but has been sitting for years. Paint buffed out beautifully, top looks new, interior is tear free, but has lots of mold. Tires look new. The Buick runs kind of rough right now because I need to drain the gas tank, it has bad gas in it. You can smell it when you start it. A friend of my wife had the car forever and it sat in his driveway with a car cover on it. When I saw it I told him to sell me the car because it was just going to rot away if it sat much longer. My intentions were to detail it and sell it for a profit. I bought it around Christmas time and have had zero time to put into it. I don't want the car to just sit any more and go to waste.

I did rebuild the carb and put new plugs and it fired right up. It idles good but won't rev up very well and the exhaust stinks bad because of the gas. Dyer's Automotive in Austin, Texas has maintained the car over the years and has all of the records. It has an original 401 Nailhead. All new belts, hoses, battery, cables, etc. It also has A/C.

The car has a ton of potential, it has just been sitting for a while, so it needed a lot of clean up. It's kind of a shame because the guy probably let it sit about a year too long. The only places that I've found rust are under the windshield chrome and the trunk jamb. The trunk floor is rust free. The interior is black and also is only about 5 years old, no tears or rips anywhere, just covered in mildew. I bought new trunk weather stripping, but haven't installed it yet. The brakes suck, no power, all 4 drums. Overall I would rate the car as a real nice driver, it's all original and all parts are there. Anyone that wants to spend some time restoring the car can make some big $$$ on the car because it is a rare numbers matching car. Pictures here for you to see what it's all about. I am being as honest as possible with this description.

Price is firm, I would rate this car a 3 from 1-5. The car is in Austin, Texas.

    Thanks for looking,

    Price lowered to $5,500.

I don't quite get it, I can't believe the Buicks don't bring any buyers to the market? If this was a numbers matching Big Block Chevelle it would have been snatched up as soon as it listed? :Do No:

$5,500, seems to be a more than a fair asking price, the car is valued at more than 4X that amout fully restored. This is not a difficult restoration, all of the parts are there.

I have zero time to put into the car. I don't want the car to sit any longer, that's just going to ruin the car. At this point, I would just like to see the car go to someone that will give it what it deserves.

  7. I just saw your thread on V8 Buick. I was wondering if the 65 was a manual or automatic ? Mold on the interior? Is this a convertible or vinyl top? How many miles and you say the numbers match? I live in Austin (actually Driftwood) can I come and look at it? I currently have a 1970 GS convertible and once owned a 65 GS with buckets, manual with posi-traction. Sure wish I could find that car! I owned it when I lived in California in 1968. Thanks for your time. Sylvia Frandsen OOPs I didn't get all the way to the last post.
