Thinking of putting this car on eBay, I found another that needs less work.

Runs and drives, needs work. here's a basic description, please e-mail me at mcstarch@comcast.net for pix, I'll be taking more of them this weekend and will try to post some here. Let me know what you'd like to see and if you're interested. Car is in Dover, New Hampshire and I'd be looking for $6,500 or BRO.

    Description

1965 Buick Gran Sport Convertible Four Speed. Numbers matching, dual quads on a 401 nailhead.

Numbers on the block are very faded but as far as I can tell, they appear to match and the engine has the LR stamping for a Gran Sport motor.

The car is currently on an open (non-boxed) Skylark frame but I have a 4 speed boxed frame to go with it. Its pretty punky but could be restored. The doors, fenders, front clip and grille currently on the car are all from a Skylark but I have all the original parts to verify that it is a GS.

I also have quarters to go with the car. They are from a Skylark convertible and are cut oversize for easy fit. These are not cheap or easy to find, especially convertible quarters! The original color was Verde Green, paint code J but it is oxidized now and looks black. I have the chrome GS portholes and some other parts.

The original fenders have the correct GS portholes and the oxidized paint on them matches the original paint on the carthe original Verde green paint is visible between the portholes where the chrome protected it and it matches the paint on the rockers and other parts of the car that were protected from the elements. The original front clip has the blacked out GS grill (which is cracked in several places unfortunately) and the battery tray mounts on the drivers side. (I have since put the battery tray in the car to hold the battery, which is wired on the drivers side and had been sitting on the wheel well!) The factory floor stamping around the opening for the shifter is there and mostly intact, though it was cut into on the left side of the hole to make room for the Hurst shifter. I also have the original doors and door panels which are pretty rough. The rear end is the original 10 bolt posi, still has the tag on it to verify.

The car runs and drives but is not inspected because there are holes in the quarters, in the trunk just above the trunk mounts and not all of the lights are working. I have not had it on the road, just up and down the driveway but the power steering works and the front end and steering feel tight. Clutch needs adjusting, the car shifts pretty hard right now. Water pump pulley is a bit wobbly but works, so the pump may be on the way out, not sure. The nailhead sounds healthy and the dual quad setup works well. Carter AFB Carbs are not original but it is a Buick dual quad setup and manifold as far as I know. Needs quarters, paint, convertible top, interior and electrical work. Windows and remote mirror all work. Floors are solid with some surface rust, except where noted in the trunk. I have the chrome porthole ornaments and some other parts to go with the car including a power booster and master cylinder that I pulled off a 1966 Skylark.

I know this is crazy but I need 2 Verde Green quarters for a '65 GS convertible. Interested in selling the pair separate?

    Quarters

The quarters are from a white convertible so they're actually not the color you're looking for. I would like them to go with the car. If the car doesn't sell I'll go back to my original plan, put these quarters on it and restore it.

The guy I got them from was a great source. PM me or e-mail and I will try to find his number for you.

    Pix coming soon.

Have you verified the trans is a match for the car and VIN? Do you still have the original Muncie shifter? Thanks

    Shifter

No on the tranny but I'll try to do that this weekend. I don't have the original shifter.

I'm also aiming to get some more pix of the factory 4 speed floor stamping, the quarters and the other parts that I have to with the car this weekend.

I have posted all my pix at the link above for convenient viewing!

Tried to verify the tranny this weekend but I didn't have a mirror so I couldn't see the top of the housing where the numbers are. I'll get a mirror and some more pix over the holiday weekend.
