65 GS motor mounts FS Complete set sandblasted and painted fits 401 nailhead motors for 65 GS 300.00 or best offer will post pics if needed
Hi Calvin, Sorry i'm a dumb ass....i forgot i purchased an extra set of these from Brian a while back. I stashed them away and forgot until i looked at the pics. By the way, i believe the actual rubber mount attached to yours is not for the GS but instead for the big buicks with 401/425. Gary
Can u send me a pics because I took these off the 401 motor which came out of a 65 GS and from what im told they were made only for 65 GS cars this info I got from Brian ..also hmmm.
The rubber mounts should have two ears for the thru bolt. I have a pic here: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=52035
Yes they are exactly as Walt has shown. The ones attached to your brackets are for the big buicks from around the same years. I actually purchased a brand new set from a guy at a swap meet only to realize later that they didn't have the side ears and they look like the ones you have. The rest of the pieces of course are 65-66 gs. Gary
Gary, It was a different Brian that Calvin was referring to not me. By the way Gary clear out some of you pm's. I was trying to sent you some info.
Thanks Brian, from now on if i'm talking about you i will make sure i put "Brian G". I will clear out my PM box. I wish they would make that thing bigger! Gary
Ok im clear.....the motor mount brackets did come off the car but the mounts could have been replace at some point and time ....so that make since are the ones in the other pic correct for the 65 GS ifso who makes the and are there any replacement brackets being made ....im thinking possibly not.
GS mounts are not currently being reproduced. As far as I can determine, they were a 'dealer-only' item since day one. Steele Rubber co does re-vulcanize your originals for about $80 a pair. Closest match to the GS mounts are the 3-bolt Chev mounts in the thread I linked to. I suppose it's possible to buy both the chev mounts and the big Buick mounts and have Steele Rubber redo them using the baseplate from the Buick mount, and the 2-eared top piece from the Chev plate....and make a GS mount.
A little bolt hole elongation. A little cuttin' & a grindin' & you have a set of mounts for CHEAP!!!!!! This is what we've been using in Quigg's GS for a few years now. We don't worry about breakin' a mount because the engine is chained down!!!!! Tom T.
Also, Walt. Drilling & tapping ONE hole in your plate isn't gonna hurt anything or detract from appearance if original mounts are again used. Tom T.
