Alright let me start out by saying I'm not that car savvy. Cars and I are almost like most people are with computers. Anywho. I have a '65 Buick Skylark [2 door (I've been told it's a special as it lacks a solid peice for the rear window)]. I love my car to death and want to fix it up alot. Basically if anyone has any suggestions on fixing it up please let me know. I'm going to convert the brakes to disc... If you know any tricks or anything of the sort for anything [shocks, rims, suspention, steering, etc...] Please let me know as I'm clueless on most of it. My car has the stock tranny I believe; although I wouldn't mind upgrading it I'd like to keep it an automatic...

All I can say is Just browse around as there is ALOT of info on here.If you look in the small block forum you'll find info on the 300 engine that should be in your car.The best upgrade for a trans would be a th-350.People have said that it makes the car feel like it gained 50hp.

Would this be the (3) speed turbo tranny? Or better? A tranny guy was telling me that a (3) speed turbo tranny would bolt right up...

Is that an automatic? How much does it usually run? I'm not worried about how complex it is to install as it's a part I'll have professionally installed...

Yes it is a 4 speed over drive trans from GN same length as yours now just need to move the cross member back aprox 6" or so I notced my cross member for pan clearance and I used a newer Qjet ( 83 ) so the TV cable would have the correct geomerty

    Hey, Whats-your-name,

    What's your name?
    Where do you live?
'65 Specials have two rear taillights at each end, while the Skylark has a taillight that goes all the way across the back panel. And there should be emblems on the car that say either 'Special' or 'Skylark'

Many 64-72 GM intermediate parts will fit the chassis of your '65. If you like looking for parts in junkyards, here are some items that will improve your '65:
Disk brakes 70-72. Or buy new for approx $600.
Pontiac Trans Am 1-1/4" front swaybar 70-80
Quick-ratio power steering boxes, various years to 1987
Boxed rear control arms and rear sway bar 64-72.....but you can buy these new for approx $300.
Most of these tips are listed on Georges site at
    www.buickperformance.com

My name is Matt and I live in northern california, north of sac. I have the tail light strip but was told mine was a special because it lacks a solid bar that devides the front and rear windows. The bar that devides them rolls down with the rear window...

Any suggestions for better suspension? Maybe custom rims?

Anyone know where to get fenders? repo or original

Does anyone know where to get 5 3/4" projector headlights? I've looked all over and cannot find them. I saw them once on a picture of a buick wagon but have never found them...
