Hi all. The seams in my headliner are rotted(ing) out. This is due to the fact that the previous owner let it sit outside with bad weatherstripping. I cleaned all the mold and mildew off the inside of the car when I got it. Although the headliner is still a bit icky.

Can this be cleaned after I take it out, and if so, how should I do it properly?
I haven't taken it out yet.

Also, it seems there is a strip of off-white cloth over the bow that holds the liner, is this the "pocket that the bow goes through?

I've lady friends who're willing to stitch this back together for me. (Barter GOOD!)
Any info and feedback is welcomed.

the headliner is 46 years old and definitely must be to the point where the material is rotten. besides the mildew smell is embedded in the material. time to buy a new liner.
the pockets are for the bows.
